So remember that one time when we went to the State Fair and I forgot to bring a camera so we have NO pictures :(
Oh well. Live and learn. That just means I will have to describe it so well that you can picture it in your mind. Here goes:
We went to the fair on Saturday, September 28th. Even though it was overcast, it was humid! We were all drenched in sweat relatively quickly. But we pressed on! If you go back and look at our pictures from the fair last year, it was basically the same (except no Aunt Kelly and Reagan this year).
Our first stop was the merry-go-round and it's a good thing it was! Eve enjoyed (I think) riding it with my help. She hung on tight the whole time and refused to smile - it's serious business to ride! She did wave to Dad and Halle as we passed them, though.
Our next stop was the children's farm where Eve donned an apron, grabbed a basket, and set to work feeding the fake animals, milking cows, gathering eggs, planting veggies, picking fruit, and even riding a tractor! At the end, she "sold" her goods to the country store, got some "money" and used it to pick out a snack. I think that's my favorite part of the fair - Eve got really into it and took her tasks very seriously. And thoroughly enjoyed her treat!
After that, we went to the animal tent where you can pet/feed tons of different animals - imagine everything from ostriches to pigs, kangaroos (we didn't feed those), donkeys, goats, cows, and even a giraffe! It wasn't as cool as last year, because even though it was only day 2 of the fair, the animals had already been way overfed and none of them were really interested in eating, even though Eve was VERY interested in feeding them. :( We didn't stay there as long as last year.
After that we walked around and checked out some indoor exhibits - and just in time! It started down pouring! And I mean down pouring! We bought some fudge, tried unsuccessfully to go outside and find something to do, and ended up in the food court to use the rest of our tickets that we'd been saving for one last merry-go-round ride. Due to the rain, all the rides had been shut down, so instead, we all shared a garlic cheese bread - yum!
After that, we decided to call it a day. The girls were tired, there was a break in the heavy rain, so we decided to head back to the car. All in all, it was a fun afternoon, but I'm glad it's just once a year. It's a lot of work (and money!) to go to the fair!
