January was a fun, busy, normal month and we loved it!
Eve sporting her warmest Christmas attire - we had a few days of cold during the month and she didn't miss her chance to bundle up!
And then it got warm - really warm! I love Texas! It means going on walks for Family Night in January!
Halle gave Eve's bike a try before Andrew raised the seat. At some point, we'll take the training wheels off.....
And then it got cold again and we actually got a dusting of snow! The girls were frantic to get outside and play in it.
School was not cancelled because it started snowing after school had already started and it was a Friday so it was cleared up long before Monday. But Eve's class got to go outside and catch snowflakes on their tongues!
Halle and Abigail couldn't wait for Eve to get home to play outside, so I let them go after lunch. They insisted on the front yard for some reason.
Good thing I let them because by the time Eve got home, the snow in the front yard was almost all melted.
Halle really, really wanted to build a snowman with Daddy.
This is the best we could do with such limited resources.....but it was enough to make her happy!
There was some snow left in the backyard when Eve got home, so she got to enjoy it too!
Maybe our only snow this season? Fingers crossed!
Eve's last Sunday in her CTR 5 class! Because so many families were out of town, the primary didn't switch to new classes until halfway through January. Eve absolutely loved her teachers, the Haywards!
And Halle's hair celebrated her last day in Sunbeams!
More playing outside in the warm weather!
Cora joined in by eating her dinner!
One day while I was cleaning out the car and the girls were playing in the garage, I found Abigail like this - I'm super glad she didn't fall off! I'm still not quite sure how she got herself on....she's our fiercely independent child!
And Halle wanted to photo bomb.
Playing at the park after school one day - Cora's first time down the slide!
Playing at a different park on a different warm day! Are you sensing a theme for warmness for January?!?!?
So Eve's been sleeping on the floor in our room for a few months. She's ultimately going to be sharing a room with Cora, and that's where her bed is right now, but until Cora is solidly sleeping through the night, Eve's been in with us. She loves it. A lot. I'm not joking. It's going to be hard to get her back in her own bed when the time comes. We found her bundled up like this one night when we came to bed. All snuggly!
So the girls are obsessed with doing nice things for me - I'm so spoiled! Usually, they surprise me by cleaning their room, then each write me a nice note and put together a snack for me. Eve is quite good now at making chocolate milk. The snack ritz crackers and little Danish cookies surrounded by starbursts.
The younger girls and I watched President Trump's inauguration on TV. I would have missed it (I assumed it was during the evening), but Eve's teacher texted a picture of her class watching history in the making, so I was clued in to turn it on.
How fun that Eve got to see this as a kindergartner! Only every four years!
We loved seeing the Mormon Tabernacle Choir perform!
Towards the end of the month, I decided to try my hand a potty training Abigail. It lasted about 4.5 days - until she stood on the end table, peed on it, including the book I've been reading, than ran across the couch trailing wet footprints until we grabbed her. Back to diapers for now. I'll try again in a couple months.
On the 23rd, we celebrated National Pie Day with chicken pot pie for dinner and Oreo pie (really, Oreo cheesecake, but it was what sounded the best) for dessert! We love yummy holidays!
We splurged this month and bought a new TV - 55" smart TV and it's so big and the image is so sharp it's almost hard to look at! Eve begged to stay up late helping Andrew set it up:
A super nice sister from our ward noticed I've been struggling lately (super tired and worn out - also, Andrew may have told her, which I'm upset about) so she offered to take the girls one afternoon so I could have some time off! They went to the Science Spectrum with a little picnic lunch and had a blast! I debated using the time to get something useful done vs. relaxing. I went with the latter...
One afternoon, the girls built this "boat" in the living room. This happens a lot, almost daily, but this time they told me they were "sailing to Colorado". Hope they can find their way to Grandpa and Grandma Larsen's house!
Eve needed new tennis shoes so we went shopping and she found this little gem as well. She almost talked me into getting it for her.....almost.....
On Saturday the 28th, we went out for dinner with the law journal Andrew's been working with. There were about 20 people and ours were the only kids. Luckily, they were mostly well behaved and everyone fawned over them.
Cora continues her weird sitting. Physical therapy comes next week to evaluate her!
Cora, who until this month hated her baths, has suddenly fallen in love with them. As soon as she hits that water, she splashes like crazy and soaks everything! (Eve is not pictured cause we've upgraded her to showers.....although I will need to arrange at least one picture of all four of them in the tub at some point!)
And that sums up our month! On to February....
