Everything Else in August Post-Baby

Besides Boyd's arrival and Abigail finishing chemo, here's what else happened to finish out the month of August.

Cora loves having her picture taken and requests it all the time. Like when she's eating cinnamon bread :).

Abigail showing off her sign for Boyd once we took it off the front door.

General craziness in the living room listening to Pandora Disney music.

And, sometimes we just napped.

Like I mentioned earlier, Halle quickly mastered riding her bike with Grandma's instruction! Good thing Grandma came or who knows when we would have gotten around to it.

Lots of outside play time with Grandma here! The kids were in heaven! They got to know more of our neighbors (and especially their dogs!) in the three weeks with Grandma here than we have in our year and a half of living in this house!

Grandma also got Abigail going on her bike with training wheels, which Abigail couldn't do until then. Grandma is a master at the bike instruction!

She was patient enough to give Seth a turn too.

It's a good thing we have so many readers in the house to appease Seth. (And so many willing hands to hold Boyd!)

Abigail got a whole ice cream bar one night (I don't remember for what) and was quite pleased! Oh, this was after we got home from chemo! I had told her we would do something fun to celebrate her last day (I know, she'd already done plenty of celebrating....) but we got home so late that she settled for an ice cream bar and went to bed.

Meanwhile, this kid just kept getting cuter and cuter!

Grandma took the girls out for ice cream! Or we took her? Doesn't matter, I suppose, as long as ice cream's involved!

Boyd tried to learn to hold his own pacifier in.

He loved all his time with Grandma! She gives the best snuggles! Especially when you're a whole week old!

"So I guess he's staying then? Well, ok...."

We love that Boyd's a week old and that Grandma's here!

Abigail completed a goal chart we'd set together and got to go to Braums to celebrate!

She got the biggest ice cream cone they have - the triple scoop!

Reaching our goals sure does pay off!

Playing some Grandpa Beck games while Grandma was here - she knows the family and had just spent a few days with them up in Washington in July!

Grandma's phone and pictures are the coolest!

Abigail was not pleased that with this game of Apples to Apples she was "nasty", "delicious", and "mysterious".

We got a newspaper on the porch and Abigail wouldn't throw it away. "It's knowledge! This is how we see the world!"

Boyd was so smiling while we were reading scriptures! He's very spiritual.

And tired.

And...a little unsure....

Seth has taken to climbing up and helping himself to whatever he wants, including the random peanut butter cup he found on our paper tray.

I found him like this one day. Not sure what he was hoping to accomplish by this one.

We took the water table outside for some actual water play for the first time in.....well, I think since we moved to Amarillo. It usually gets played with dry in the sun room.

Before Grandma Smith left, Aunt Lisa got to come for a few days! Boyd was enthralled with another new admirer.

And she got to witness his first bath at two weeks old!

He loved it. He was so calm as soon as he settled into the water.

Coming out was not his favorite.

But being snuggled in warm jammies with a pacifier soon reassured him that all is well in the world.

I can't believe I'm already two weeks old! We had a fun incident at his two week appointment. The nurse weighed him then came back into the room to weigh him again because according to her first measurement, he hadn't regained his birth weight yet. So we went back to the scale and this time I watched and saw 9lbs 7oz. I was surprised since none of our kids have ever had this problem. When the doctor came in, I asked her about it and she said, "Oh no. It's fine. We use kg cause it's more accurate." Somehow, according to their math, when you convert 9lbs 7oz to kg, then back to pounds, it magically comes out as 9lbs 15oz? I don't get it, but if they're not worried, I'm not worried.

At two weeks old, Boyd was drinking about 2oz bottles of formula every 3 hours. Not too shabby.

Thanks to Grandma's hard work and patience, Halle is now a confident bike rider!

Playing game with Aunt Lisa:

Grandma sneaking into Seth's nap to say goodbye before we take her to the airport.

Abigail stayed home with Aunt Lisa (which she regretted when she saw this picture) while the rest of us took Grandma to the airport to say goodbye! We loved having her here for 3 weeks and are so grateful for all her work! And trust me, she worked really hard!

That night when I went to check on the kids before going to bed, I found Abigail like this:

Aunt Lisa got to stay for a few more days! And Cora wore lots of necklaces at once!

And Boyd dabbled in thumb sucking and decided it wasn't for him. Whew!

Seth loves when his sisters help him jump off things. Stools, the ottoman, he's not picky.

Cora loves to play in the dino sand and one day let me put in a little pony! But only long enough to take a picture, then she wanted it out.

This little guy finished out the month strong - napping in the sun of the playroom.
