Saturday morning dawned bright and sunny - perfect for a wedding! We all got ready, checked out of the hotel, and drove the 10 minutes to the Orlando Temple. Eric and Kayla's sealing was at 11am and was so special. It was wonderful to be in the temple with them as they were sealed for time and all eternity!
Eve napped in the car until the watchful car of Aunts Laura and Lisa while we were inside. By the time we got out, it was really windy! We had a little while to wait before Eric and Kayla emerged so we had a pre-photo shoot photo shoot :)
How cute is Eve's dress? Kayla wanted us all to wear black and/or cream and this little dress fit the bill perfectly!
Uncle Lance helped Eve practice her walking while we waited.
Look over there! Is that the newly weds?
False alarm. Guess I'll play with these wood chips and dried leaves while I wait....
Cousin Jennie!
I mentioned we had two family pictures taken all weekend - this is the second. You can see why I wasn't thrilled with either, but when you only have two, you can't be picky!
Eve loved our flowers and promptly began de-petaling Andrew's as soon as he got it pinned on his suit coat.
He loves me, he loves me not....He loves me!!
And finally our waiting paid off and the happy couple emerged!
But they weren't the only happy couple that day :) Laura and Danny will soon be joining them in matrimonial bliss! (December 28th!)
We stuck around the temple for another hour or so while Eric and Kayla took pictures with family/friends. When we weren't in the shot, we took more pictures of our own!
Proud parents!
Elated siblings! Kayla's two brothers are in the top middle.
The Smith's are happy to add another girl to the clan!
And Eve is happy to have a new aunt!
What handsome men! From the left: Danny (Laura's finance), Rand (Kayla's oldest younger brother), Kayla's dad, Eric (the groom), Andrew's dad, Troy (her youngest brother), Lance, and my Andrew!
Good lookin' brothers!
Eve was happy to take a picture with the bride and groom as long as she could bring her woodchips!
She knew which camera to look at!
After pictures and some Wendy's for lunch, we all hopped in our rental cars and drove two hours north to Jacksonville for the wedding reception!
Don't be fooled by the covering over the top! It was still semi-outdoors and more than a little chilly! I hadn't planned for cold weather (thanks a lot to the less than dependable weather reporters), so I wore Andrew's suit coat and Eve was either wrapped in a blanket or wearing her pink BYU hoodie.
But the place was really cute and we had a good time!
This little card was on each table - fun!
Their cake was so yummy! Super moist with cream on the inside!
And tons of good food! The best part of any reception ;)
They were very nice and didn't smear cake in each other's faces. I wonder if Kayla had to threaten Eric beforehand...
The first dance....ah.....
Eve pooped out before the end - good thing we were staying in a Jacksonsville hotel that night so we didn't have far to drive!
We got to our hotel, caught the last quarter of the LSU vs. Alabama game (or, rather, Andrew and Jennie watched....I was in the room...), then hit the sack.
On Sunday morning we went to church with Kayla's family in her home ward then made a quick stop at the beach before the drive back to Orlando.
Eve was sleeping and I was so tired, so she and I waited in the car while everyone else went out to take pictures. It was cold and windy, so I don't feel like I missed much. And Andrew took our camera, so I was satisfied.
Eve got some dinner on the drive back to Orlando, then we dropped off the rental car and booked it to the ticketing counter.
Andrew's family BARELY made their flight back to Salt Lake City. They got to the ticket counter 45 minutes before takeoff. We were both flying Delta, but our flight was 40 minutes after theirs so we weren't as rushed.
After we got through security, took the train to our terminal (our departure gate was adjacent to theirs), and started heading for the gate we heard "This is the absolute last call for Delta flight xxxx to SLC. The doors will close in less than one minute and they will NOT reopen." I think that's when we parted ways because they had to start running....
But they (and all their luggage) made it home safely! We grabbed some dinner just in time to board our flight. Eve did fairly well on both flights. She loves to wave and smile at people on the plane. She was super wiggly but didn't start fussing until just before we landed. It was after her bedtime, so I have to cut her some slack.
We had a fun three days in Florida and are so happy for Eric and Kayla. Congratulations you two!
She wore shoes!!
