This year, the party came to us for Thanksgiving! Andrew's cousin Kevin, his wife Naomi, and their two daughters made the drive from Chicago to spend the holiday with us. And, as a bonus, cousin Jennie came too! It was a tight fit in our little apartment, but we made it work!
They got in late Wednesday night. Andrew and Kevin got up bright and early on Thanksgiving morning to start the turkeys (more on that deliciousness to come!) then headed off to a rather rambunctious Turkey Bowl! They came back muddy from head to foot, although I neglected to capture the proof on film.
When they got back, Kevin, Naomi, and the girls went off for a 5k run around our local track. Where do they find this energy!? I need some!
But then the afternoon calmed down a bit....video games, reading, and naps!
Our dinner was....heavenly! Kevin and Andrew stole the show with mouth-watering turkey! We cooked two small (or so we thought) turkeys in crock pots. One regular and one kalua style! Di-vine! So moist they literally fell off the bones when the men-folk took them out. Not as small as we originally thought, though. We'll be having leftover turkey for quite some time! (Fine by me!)
I quadrupled my mom's roll recipe and it was good I did! That way, we had some we could send home with the Chicago crew....
A peak at our Thanksgiving feast! So much to be thankful for!
Eve was super excited for the eating to begin! Good thing she didn't notice the apple pie was within reach.....
A hodge-podge mix of tables and chairs, but no one seemed to mind too much.
I promise Eve enjoyed herself - I don't know why she's looking so serious!
And for an after-dinner snack.....pacifiers! Which flavor to choose, though? So many options!
Eve has become very intent on sticking her finger in her nose...and apparently it's contagious!
"Happy Thanksgiving, Mom! Can you believe I'm almost 1?!"
Many hours later our stomachs had settled enough to go for round two - pie!
And ending on a random note - Eve took quite a fancy to Naomi. She'd follow her around and point at her and laugh and smile whenever Naomi looked her way. :)
And what, you may ask, did we do on our Black Friday? Up at the crack of dawn (or earlier) for shopping? You'll have to wait and see!
