Let Us Swim, Let Us Swim, Let Us Swim

On Friday the 23rd we all went to the Broomfield Rec Center for a swim!

Candace and Jeremy came to join us with their kids - Nathan and baby Hannah - so we had quite a group.  And we had a great deal of fun!

Eve loves to play in water and we discovered while there that she also loves going down water slides!

Eve and Grandpa had a fun time splashing!

Grandma opted to hold Asher and take pictures for us.

We all tried to get good pictures of our little families, but the kiddos were having so much fun that they wouldn't cooperate for pictures.  I love how Andrew's playing dead in the background - Eve loves that game!

Side note - did anyone else have an extremely difficult time getting any decent pictures of their kids at this age.  For the past couple of months, I have not been able to get a good picture of Eve.  She won't hold still, won't look at the camera, and won't smile.  Ah!  She is so cute right now, but I'm not capturing any of it for memories down the road!  Almost all of our pictures of her are blurry because she's on the go....

Proud papas with their girls - and Eric!  A pose that you'll see repeated on this trip because the moms are taking the pictures and the little girls won't hold still without some help.  Cute, nonetheless!

Thanks to Kelly for the great idea of going swimming together!  Eric and I went down the big kid slide a couple of times on a double tube - super fun!  Of course, the first time, I was in back and when we hit pool at the end of the slide, our tube front flipped and I face planted in the water.  So much for my plan to not get my hair wet!  I gave up after that.

Oh, the other funny story from this outing.  So the facilities have "cabanas" for families to change and get ready in.  Part way through our afternoon, I realized that Eve had pooped in her swim diaper.  Yikes.  So she and I went to a room to get her cleaned up.  It did not go well with just the two of us, both dripping wet.  And those swim diapers are not user friendly when they're wet!  I tried to get it off her, but all I could do was pull it down and it ended up coming off inside out, which meant her....droppings....were falling everywhere!  She was crying/screaming and trying to get up off the changing table, which didn't help matters.  There was no where to set the dirty diaper when I finally got it off, so in desperation and without thinking, I tried to fling it across the room into the sink.  It did make it into the sink, but it lost more contents in flight.  And it was an automatic sink, so at that point, there was poo all over the floor from the diaper flinging, Eve was still screaming, and the running sink was rinsing what was left in the diaper down the drain.  Don't worry, I cleaned it all up.  But if you ever happen to go to the Broomfield Rec Center, I'd recommend using a cabana other than #4....

  3. Oh, my dear friend! I just about peed my pants when I read the swim diaper story! Just a hint...they're meant to be torn at the sides and taken off that way. Helps keep the poop contained... :) Thanks for the laugh! My baby surely enjoyed the ride!

  4. Looks like fun! Except the diaper part. I just rip the diaper on the sides. Then in comes off like a normal diaper. Rips fairly easy. ;)
