We've been in the Detroit area for 7 months now, so it was with much eagerness that we packed our bags and waved goodbye to this -
....and this -
...as we headed out to Colorado and Utah for two weeks for the holidays!!!
Although we've flown with Eve several times, this was the first time she was old enough to enjoy the moving walk-ways at the airport. She put them to good use! Including walking the wrong direction on them so that she was actually standing still :)
Several hours and two very tired parents later, we finally arrived in Denver. For some reason, Eve had refused to sleep on the plane even though it was about 45 minutes delayed and we didn't take off until after her bedtime. We got to Denver towards the beginning of a very large snow storm that throughout the night would drop about a foot of snow. So we got to circle the airport for a while, waiting for clearance to land (while Eve gets increasingly fussy). Finally we made our descent, got within about 30 feet of touching down, only for them to change their mind (the runway was still too icy) and send us up again for more circling. Sigh. I'm sure the other passengers were not thrilled with us. Eve was basically freaking out by that point.
But, we finally made it! And Kelly and Reagan - who were supposed to land 45 minutes after us - made it at about the same time. (Lance came a couple of days later) Between us and Kelly, we had a lot of bags!
Eve and Reagan got reacquainted while we waited for Dad to pick us up. Eve would poke Reagan's mouth with her finger and Reagan would bite it. It's their thing....
It's cold! Is Grandpa here yet?!
This smiley girl didn't seem to mind the wait!
We got to my parents' house around 11:30 on the 21st. Stuart and Genevieve, who drove in from South Carolina with Chiara and their brand-new, week-old baby Asher, had already beat us. We visited for a bit, then hit the sack. We had tons of fun times ahead of us and needed to get our sleep!
