Ok, the best part about having a baby? Having three weeks of Grandma-help! Ok, maybe not THE best part, but certainly one of the top 5! :)
We got to have Grandma Smith with us for two weeks (Nov 5 - Nov 19) and Grandma Larsen here for one week (Nov 17 - Nov 24). That's right - that meant a two day overlap with TWO grandmas! I don't think we've ever been so spoiled! But I get ahead of myself - here's a snapshot of how we spent our three Grandma filled weeks!
Shopping with Grandma Smith:
I realized that we have very few clothes for Eve now that she's outgrown almost everything we were given....so time for a shopping trip! Halle wanted to come too...
"Don't forget to buy me some cute clothes too, Mom!" Said by a super cute one week old!
Eve took up the classic 'hiding in the racks of clothes' game all by herself. I remember loving that as a small child!
After we were all baby clothes shopped-out, we stopped by the Nestle Cafe for a cookie treat! All in all, a fun girls' outing while Andrew was at school!
Another night: dual baths! (Not together since Halle's a LITTLE young to be in the big kid bath) But this was Halle's first real bath (in the sink) since her cord was off and healed. So here are our two freshly bathed girls - so clean and so cute!
On Saturday morning, Nov 17th, Eve, Halle, and I got up early to head to the airport to pick up Grandma Larsen at the airport! Andrew headed off to play in the Stake Softball Tournament and Connie stayed home for a few minutes of peace and quiet after two full weeks of crazy!
Andrew had started his softball adventure the evening before. It was a two day tournament and since they did so well on Friday, they played again on Saturday. After we got my mom from the airport, he was still playing (bracket style - your team kept playing until they lost), so two little girls, two grandmas, and one mommy (me!) headed to the park to watch his last game - the championship!
As soon as we got to the park, Eve headed off to the playground with her friends from church while the rest of us watched Andrew dominate! Check out that swing!
Here he comes to score!
Our ward's team won the championship! Great job Andrew!
Eve remained at the playground the whole time - she missed the game, but I think she had sufficient fun on the slides :)
And with that, we were full swing into our two days of TWO grandmas!
I don't think I changed a single diaper! Or fed a bottle (except for the 2am feedings - no one seemed eager to sign up for those....)
I even braved going to church on Sunday with everyone - although Halle, Grandma Larsen, and I only stayed for the first part. A big thanks to Andrew for teaching my Primary class for two weeks!
On Monday, we went to lunch at a yummy burger place with the whole gang and April Moody - a friend of the Smith's from Provo, who lives in our area now. Delicious hamburgers and frozen custard!
Eve enjoyed her time on the restaurant window sill :)
The worst part of lunch? After it was over, it was time to take Grandma Smith to the airport :(
Saying her goodbyes to Halle:
Eve went with Andrew to the airport - she wanted to spend as much time as possible with her grandma! Love you, grandma! See you again soon!
Later that week, we had a visit from our very own hungry caterpillar! Eve helped Andrew put him safely outside so he could continue his search for food....
With Grandma Larsen's help, we got our little Christmas tree and decorations up!
Since we're planning on being out of town for the holidays, we're keeping it simple this year and letting this serve as our tree.
On Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we met up with our friends Chris and Melissa for lunch at Fuzzy's Tacos.
Yum!
I'll cover our Thanksgiving holiday in its own post - so leaving that aside, the rest of our week with Grandma Larsen was filled with lots of:
We had so much fun with our moms and are so grateful for them taking the time to come help us out! Now that we've been on our own with two little girls for a few days, we appreciate even more all the help they provided for three full weeks! (Especially tonight while Andrew's at school and I'm along - the girls are double teaming me!)
Eve had the time of her life and Halle was deliciously spoiled with all the holding!
