A Utah Christmas

We arrived in Provo on Tuesday afternoon to find....snow.  Lots and lots of snow.  And plenty more came while we were there.  It was cold and wet.

But not all of us disliked it!

This girl couldn't get enough!

Our first few days in Provo are a blur (and I have no pictures) because I got very sick, followed by Andrew and Eve.  It was pretty miserable.  On Friday we went to the doctor and found out it was tonsillitis.  No fun! But at least the powerful drugs they gave us kicked in right away and we were soon at least back on our feet.

Which meant Christmas shopping!

We made a trip to Costco with Grandma and Aunt Laura and Eve fell in love....

"Can I keep them, Mom?"

I would have been more tempted if they weren't $40 and our car wasn't already packed floor to ceiling.

On Sunday, we attended Andrew's parents' ward.  Or tried.  Sacrament Meeting went well, but most of the second hour was spent in the hall with fussy girls (Eve WILL NOT attend a nursery other than the one she knows at home) so by the end of the second hour, we called it and headed home for naps for the girls.

That afternoon was very special - Halle's baby blessing!  I'll do a separate post on that.  Before the blessing, I tried to do pictures of the girls in their Christmas dresses.  You can see how well that went:

Things started out ok....

But we quickly progressed to this:

After promising lots of bribes, we at least stopped the crying (temporarily).

But this was the most Eve would give us.  Apparently, my bribes weren't tempting enough.

Halle either didn't understand, or didn't care.

She started here:

Quickly moved to this:

And ended here.  I gave up on trying to get a good Christmas dress picture.

On Monday, Andrew and I finished up our Christmas shopping and that night Eve and Halle put their stockings under the tree for Santa to fill.  Eve, of course, wouldn't show it for the picture, but she was actually pretty excited.

Unfortunately, by this point, Connie had come down with a serious stomach bug.  Everyone was getting sick!  We got to skype that evening with Lisa in Taiwan which was really special.

Then it was off to bed early (for the girls, not us) so that Santa could come!

He didn't disappoint!  Eve and Halle (Eve more than Halle) enjoyed opening their stockings the next morning before the present madness began.

Eve opened more presents than everyone else combined, not because she had that many more than anyone else (although she did have a lot) but because she wanted to help everyone when it was their turn.  Probably half the people there were sick, so it was a very mellow present opening.

Eve and Halle sported their Christmas onesies from Aunt Kelly!

And Eve took the time to play with each present as she opened it.

Halle's a little older than Eve was at her first Christmas, so the stocking shot didn't turn out quite as well....

That afternoon we had a lot of time for movies, game playing, and....diaper changing?

We had planned to head back home on Thursday, but due to very bad weather, decided to stay an extra day.  Giving Eve more time to play in the snow - this time in proper snow attire!

Halle even joined in!  She fell asleep the minute I put her in this suit.  Of course, I probably would too!  All that warm padding!

Andrew taught Eve how to throw snow....

...while Grandpa cleared the driveway and sidewalks with his snow blower.

Halle and I made a very brief appearance outside:

Just long enough for a couple of pictures and that was enough for us!  We decided to leave the snow playing to the pros :)

Our time was running short in Provo, but there was still one more thing we had to do....
