The Smith Family Reunion was July 5 - 6th in Boise and was the whole reason for this trip of ours. However, I worked all day on the 5th, so just Andrew and the girls went to the reunion festivities. I don't really know much of what they did other than play at a park and visit with family in the afternoon at a church building. I was not pleased that I missed the whole thing.
Eve did get to have some sweet jump time on Uncle Terry's bounce house!
After I finished work that evening, Andrew and the girls picked me up and we went to Uncle Bill's house for a bbq. Eve started throwing a HUGE fit the minute we got there (this is the first I'm seeing of the family since I've been cooped up all day) so it was even more embarrassing. We left Halle with....someone....(hey, they're all family, so it was ok) and had to take Eve out and walk around with her for a couple blocks to get her to calm down. By the time we got back, dinner was over and the food was gone. Someone noticed that we hadn't eaten though, and fired up the grills just to make us some food. It was so nice!
So we got to visit with people for a bit while Eve wandered over with the other kids, found the sandbox, and happily occupied herself for over an hour.
After most people had left, she got a turn on the tramp.
So did Andrew!
Halle thought Dad's tricks were pretty cool!
Eve got some bounce time with Aunt Laura, and thought it was the coolest thing ever!
There were also swings....
...and this cool helicopter teeter totter! 2 year old heaven!
The problem arose when it came time to leave and Eve threw ANOTHER hissy fit. Oh my. Getting her into the car was quite the ordeal. I'm sure Uncle Bill's neighbors do not think kindly of us. This is what happens when you overstimulate a 2 year old, don't give her a nap, and stuff her full of sugar. Go figure.
Saturday was the second day of the reunion and we had a good time! The gathering for breakfast was at Uncle Terry's (where we were staying) so that was easy! Then a large group headed to Andrew's cousin Billy's house for a ping pong tournament. Eve found that they had lots of toys to play with so got quite attached and threw, you guess it, another fit when it came time to leave. Seriously?! What will these people think of us? She never does this at home! Maybe cause we never take her anywhere? :)
Anywho, after lunch at the park, Connie, Laura, and I went to the mall and did a little shopping. Mostly window cause we came away with almost nothing. Probably better that way. Then it was back to a church building for group pictures, dinner, and a talent show. Yes, Eve had another breakdown. Don't ask. They were almost second nature to us at that point. Andrew and I were pretty close to breakdowns ourselves!
Andrew and the girls managed to grab a picture with Grandpa and Grandma Smith!
After dinner and while cleanup was going on, the real fun began ;)
Basketball!
Eve and Halle stayed entertained by crawling all over the filthy floor. Awesome.
This is their second cousin, Aiden, who was also staying at Uncle Terry's house during the reunion (he is Terry and Becky's grandson). He became quite attached to the girls and enjoyed playing with them!
After that long, full, day, we headed back to Uncle Terry's for some sleep before our drive back to Provo the next day because, that's right, story of this vacation, I had to work again on Monday.
Can you believe how light it was as we were driving? This was 20 mins before 10pm. Crazy!
Although it was short, hectic, and tantrum filled, we did enjoy our time at the family reunion. And since it was over, out trip was rapidly winding down. I worked on Monday, then Tuesday morning we flew home.
