Big Girl Bed

In anticipation of the arrival of the new baby, we decided it was time to 'graduate' Halle from the crib and move to a big girl bed - and to move into Eve's room, no less!

Here's the initial setup: two girls, two beds, one room.

It did not go well.  After about an hour and a half of Halle AND Eve crying, we gave up and settled for baby steps.  Eve stayed in her room (though not in her bed....):

And Halle moved back to her room (though not in her crib):

This arrangement worked better - Halle is used to the dark so as soon as we laid her on her mattress and shut the door, she was asleep (after only minimal crying).  Eve is used to lots of night lights and hall lights so not sure how we'll compromise to get them in the same room.  A fight for another day, yes?

This is how we found Halle in the morning, after she slept the whole night through in her big girl bed!

Halle's been doing well in her new bed ever since - she tends to get up and pull things out of her dresser and onto the floor, but if that's the worst of it, we can deal.  She'll also get up and knock at her door when she wants us to let her out.  Sometimes very cute, sometimes not so much (depending on the time of night).  All in all, not too shabby....now to figure out how to get her into Eve's room....

  1. I know those sheets! Also, good luck. We have to same problem. Jack likes it dark. Gray has to have a night light. We just make Jack deal because he is older. I have no suggestions on how to make it work. Let me know if you figure it out. :)

  2. Holy Cow! I would think they'd like being in the same room so they can play more... kids are complicated!
