Cora's First Two Weeks

Cora's first two weeks have flown by, and are somewhat a sleep deprived blur ;)  Though, to be fair, she's a much better sleeper than any of her sisters were at this age!

She has been getting TONS of love from her big sisters:

Abigail's way of asking to hold her sister: "Abigail hold it Cora".

Eve is Cora's second mother and is constantly asking (more than Halle and Abigail) to hold her, burp her, etc.  She's a big helper!

Cora's first sponge bath at home - not a happy camper!

Until she was warm and snuggly :)

It was a HUGE blessing to have Grandma Larsen here for Cora's first two weeks!  She kept the other three girls entertained, cooked, cleaned, and let me nap.  And went with us on walks!  Ok, maybe just the one walk.....

Grandma supervised pool time too!

Cora at one week old (and apparently not too happy about it).

Eve likes to say that she has the magic touch and that Cora likes her better than anyone (including me).  We'll see......

Cora's first water bath and she seemed to enjoy it!  She had quite an audience as all her sisters were crowded around to watch and Grandma was manning the camera for me.

On Thursday, June 30th, Grandpa Larsen arrived to join the fun!  This was also Cora's two week birthday and she got to go to the doctor, lucky girl.  Besides being poked and bled for the PKU test, it was a low key visit and our girl is looking great!  She managed to regain her birthday + an extra ounce and a half.

We had one full day with both Grandpa and Grandma before they headed to New Mexico to see Kelly and Lance for the 4th.  So we went to the park!  I should mention that first we made a visit to the farmers market.  Worst farmers market ever!  It was literally three folding tables with produce from out of state, some of which was questionable, and one woman running it.  Maybe it will pick up later in the season?  I didn't even get everyone out of the car or take any pictures.  So on the way home, we stopped at the park for a few minutes instead.  It was blazing hot, so it was a short park trip:

Grandpa's effective way to get the girls back to the car:

Both Grandpa and Grandma did a lot of reading during their visit -

All too soon, Saturday morning came and it was time to say our goodbyes :(

And just like that, we were on our own to learn how to be a family of six.  Hopefully just for a few days before Grandpa and Grandma Smith arrive to help us out!

Do all babies sleep like this?  All of our girls have.....hands above the head!

And yesterday we braved church for the first time.  Quite an experience!  Sacrament meeting went pretty well, but it was all downhill after that.  During the second hour, I'm supposed to teach youth Sunday school, but wasn't feeling quite up to it (the youth are divided into two classes and the other teacher was out of town, so it was just one BIG class), so Andrew taught for me.  What a guy!  So I went to take the girls to the bathroom and do diaper changes before their classes.  In the bathroom, Eve got her thumb badly pinched in one of the stall doors and was crying for the next hour :(  Halle went nicely to class, but Eve wouldn't (due to the throbbing thumb) so she, I, and Cora took Abigail to nursery.  Abigail wouldn't let us leave so we stayed with her for a few minutes until she peed on the floor.  So back to the bathroom for a diaper change (after the thumb pinching episode, her diaper change hadn't happened during our first trip), then back to nursery.  This time, we managed to sneak out after a few minutes and spent what was left of the second hour in the hall trying to get Eve to stop crying.  During the third hour, since Andrew was done teaching, he took Eve to her class and stayed with her for most of it, while I spent the entire time in the mother's lounge nursing Cora.  Sigh.....hope things get smoother as we get into the groove of things!

But Cora looked so cute in her Sunday dress!  And everyone at church was excited to meet her!

I'm assuming if we survived the first two weeks, so can do just about anything!  But I guess we'll find out tomorrow - my first full day by myself with the four girls.....HELP!  :)
