On Friday, June 24th, while Grandma was still here, we took the girls and had a family outing to the Science Spectrum for Critter Fest! They do it once a year and we were very glad we went!
We started with the lion and tiger show!
There were two lions (a male and a female) and two tigers (an orange and a white) and the girls went nuts! Pictures are scare because I was holding Cora and Halle on my lap. But the girls' favorite part was when the trainer was having the male lion "Mufasa" jump over hurdles. Every time Mufasa got to a hurdle, he'd lay down and go to sleep. The trainer would try to drag him by the foot or wiggle his tail to get him up and the girls thought it was hilarious! My favorite part was watching the white tiger jump through a ring of fire! No pictures :(
Next up was a crocodile exhibit!
Then on to the chicks and ducks - a clear favorite of the afternoon:
So cute and tiny!
Outside there was a petting zoo which we skipped over after this quick pat from outside the fence because it was super hot, cost money, and it was the EXACT same petting zoo we'd seen at the library a few weeks prior.
But the camel was new! And the girls each got to feed him a piece of fruit.
Our splurge for the day was letting each of the girls pick an animal ride to go on - they had an elephant, a horse, and ponies. And the girls each chose a different one so we got to try everything.
Our brave Halle was dead set on the elephant ride and she did great!
Abigail went for a ride on the ponies and considering that last time we tried to get her on a horse she wouldn't go near it, we considered this quite an accomplishment! She loved it and loves watching her pony video over and over!
Eve chose the horse and had a great time too!
Such a fun afternoon at Critter Fest!
