Galveston Part 1

Over Labor Day weekend, we took a trip out to Galveston and Houston for my cousin's wedding and a Klosowsky family reunion in honor of my grandma's 80th birthday.  Talk about a busy weekend!

We left Lubbock on Wednesday after school and drove to Waco.  I let the girls jump on the hotel bed.....

The next morning, we made a stop at Magnolia Market before continuing our drive to Galveston.  Andrew kindly watched Eve, Abigail, and Cora out in the blazing, humid heat, while Halle and I explored inside.

Overall, it was a neat place, but it's not easy to enjoy with four little kids.  I was rushed and stressed the whole time we were there, knowing the girls were probably going nuts for Andrew, and the weather was so gross that we were all nasty sweaty instantly.

Time for some a/c in the car before arriving in Galveston to unpack in the gross humidity again.  Did I mention I don't like humidity?  At least not that much....

But we were so excited to see everyone when we arrived!  The Don Larsen family (minus Evan and Eric who couldn't/didn't come) rented out a house near the beach to all stay in.  And the rest of my mom's family came over that evening for my grandma's party.

Cora finally meets Aunt Kelly!

And Uncle Reid :)

My Uncle Curt provided dinner for everyone since he's a bbq champ - it was so yummy!

There was a picture of this family on the top of a bookshelf - maybe the owners??  But cousin Michael was happy to pose with them!

Andrew entertained the little kids by letting them watch him play video games.  Apparently that's fun???

So crazy girls right here!

Happy birthday, Grandma!  Uncle Reid put together a nice slide show (playing on the TV in the back),

and Kelly had this beautiful plaque done.

We got to see our cousin Colton; it's been at least 20 years, so that was fun!

And we took some group shots!  Only people missing are Evan, Eric, and Christopher (he was in Houston prepping for his wedding).

The next morning, we headed out for a ferry ride.

We saw lots of dolphins jumping in the water!

Eve basically spent the ride there and back at the front of the ferry with her cousins.  Too cool to be with mom and dad!  :(

After the ferry, it was back to the house for lunch.  The girls were obsessed with the little kitten who lived next to our house.

That afternoon it was off to the beach - a short two block walk from the house!  Andrew stayed home with Cora, but the rest of us had a blast....for the most part.

Eve loved going out deeper with her aunts and uncles, while I stayed close to the shore with Halle and Abigail.

Abigail only almost drowned once.  I kid, but it was really scary.  I was watching Daryn for a few seconds, then turned around to see Abigail under the water being rolled around by waves, fighting to get back up.  I screamed and ran to pull her out.  She was so sad, and wouldn't get in the water much for the rest of our trip.  And anytime I went in, even a little, with Halle, Abigail would start crying, "No, Mommy!" and run out to me to drag me back to the beach.

But playing in the sand was lots of fun too!

Our afternoon ended with Eve getting stung by a jelly fish on both feet.  She was screaming and crying but the life guards recommended leaving the stings in the salt water for 30 mins to ease the pain.  Her uncles distracted her from the pain by collecting sea shells for her, and by the end of the 30 mins, the pain was gone, she had quite the collection, and was happy as a clam!

Back home for some rest!

Each family had one room in the house - ours had a double bed for Andrew and I to share (so tiny!), and besides Cora in the pack n play, the others were all on the floor.  We found Halle and Abigail like this when we went to bed:

So ended the first half of our trip!
