Halle's 6th Birthday

Each year, I let the girls chose either family activity or a party with their friends for their birthday.  Until now, they've always picked a family activity.  But Halle decided she wanted a party with her friends this year, so that's what we did!  Halle's birthday was on a Monday, so we did her party on Saturday, November 3rd.  She passed out about 15 invitations, but only 3 friends ended up coming. (Which was fine by me!)

Halle got really stressed out anytime I asked her what she wanted to do for her party, so I told her I'd pick.  Halle loves doing projects and crafts, so that's what we planned.  First, we tried painting ice crystal designs (I forgot to take pictures), then after a little cake walk with prizes, we built forts out of toothpicks and all different kids of marshmallows.

Some people did more eating than building....

While I got ready for cupcake decorating, Andrew did an obstacle course outside for the kids, which mostly just turned into jumping on the tramp.

(I showed the kids what happens when you microwave marshmallows and they were all amazed!)

Decorating your own cupcakes was fun for the kids and meant I didn't have to stress about a cake!  Win-win!

Perhaps I should have more closely regulated the use of the sprinkles....

Overall, I think Halle really like the crafts and projects, but it wasn't maybe the best fit for the 3 boys who came to her party.  Oh well!

For her actual birthday, Halle chose a better-than-anything cake, which we made on Sunday so Andrew could have some too before leaving for work on Monday morning. The cake was also to help celebrate Andrew passing the bar, which we had learned about that week!  Wahoo!

Monkey bread for Halle's birthday on Monday morning!  Doesn't she look older and wiser???

6 already?!

Crashing Halle's picture...

Monday evening, I hid Halle's presents and put clues in balloons.  Halle had to find which balloons had clues and pop them!

Birthday cake time!  We were running late by this point, so Abigail and Cora had already had meltdowns and been put in bed.

Such a fun birthday!

I had picked Halle up early from school on Monday to go to the doctor for her well-check, so she took birthday treats to her class on Tuesday.

Happy birthday, Halle!  Love you!
