Boyd's First Snow

We got a fun surprise on the afternoon of October 26th! At least, some of us think it's fun....and cold....

Because of ice, school was cancelled the next day, a Tuesday, so the girls wanted to go outside first thing in the morning! Or maybe it was just a delayed start. That seems more likely. Either way, by 9am, out in the snow they were!

Seth ran right out, then right back in when he realized my warnings were correct. And you can guess what happened when his wet footie pajamas hit the tile floor of the sunroom. Ouch. Next time, listen to Mom!

Once he was dressed, he tried again. This is also when I learned we didn't have a boy's coat that fit him. So we made do (and I went shopping later that week). Yes, Eve's in her pajamas.

So cute in pink!

Boyd was super excited about all the white stuff!

They all got brave!

And then begged me to let Boyd join them for a quick picture. I couldn't resist.

That evening, they all went back out (Eve in a different pair of pj's this time).

We got a little more snow on the 28th and it was heavy enough to knock down a couple big branches.

Which meant delayed start again and more time to play outside before school!

Check out the accumulation on the tramp!

I give up! Don't hit me!

Daddy was even convinced to join the fun!

It's embarrassing to admit, but we don't even own a snow shovel. So Andrew borrowed one from the neighbor. A lady a couple houses up got stuck in the ditch at the bottom of our driveway, so Andrew and a couple others worked to get her out while I drove the girls to school. And the van got stuck when I tried to pull back up the driveway after dropping them off so we had to just leave it there for a few hours while we waited for the sun to do it's work. Which it did. The snow didn't have a chance.

And that's enough winter for this season! No more, please!
