The Saga Continues....

The latest update on the sleeping situation:

Last Saturday night, we finally got them in the same room!  This was no small feat.  Our first attempt was Friday night.  We laid Halle down first, turned the lights off, and closed the door so she could fall asleep in the dark.  Once she was out, we quietly took Eve in to lay down, with the intent to leave the door open and hall lights on so Eve could sleep.  It did not got as planned.  Eve freaked out and started crying when we tried to lay her down, woke Halle up, and spent the next 30 - 45 mins in timeout while we tried to get Halle to go back to sleep.  So Halle ended up sleeping in the room and Eve slept on the floor in Halle's old room.

Saturday night went much better - Eve cooperated and laid down quietly without waking her sister.  Success!  Until I was awoken on Mother's Day morning at 6am to someone tickling my back from the side of my bed.  Yes, Halle was up and since the girls' bedroom door was open, made her escape and came into our room.  (It was also that morning that the girls and I discovered a baby snake in the kitchen - ah!  I sent Eve to wake Andrew to take care of it while Halle and I watched to make sure it didn't get away.  Why do we live in Texas?!?!?!)

Anyway, we tried again on Sunday night.  This time, I woke up at 5am to a 'squeak, squeak, squeak' coming down the hall.  It was Halle, pushing the doll stroller (pictured above at the foot of her bed) into our room.  Ah!

Monday night was even worse!  She got up at 2am on Tuesday morning and I woke to her tickling my back again.  After Andrew tried for 3 hours before getting her back to sleep, we admitted that something needed to change.  If that girl wakes up and her bedroom door is open, it's all over.  In her old room, she would frequently toss and turn at night, but as long as the door was closed, she'd stay put and go back to bed.  However, Eve is quite adamant that the door stay open....

So where do we stand?  Well, Halle's still sleeping in Eve's room and we leave the door closed all night - it worked wonders last night and she didn't get up too early!  The drawback?  Eve is sleeping on the floor in our room.....

Small victories.  We'll get there someday....

  2. have you tried using a baby gate and leaving the door open? unless Halle is big enough to climb over it...
