On October 7th, my dear friend Katie's son Luke passed away. I won't go into details here about that story or how's it changed my life, but needless to say, the Call family is amazing and I have a special place in my heart for them (as I know lots of others do!).
I wanted to be able to attend his funeral, so I flew out to Utah Oct 11 - 14. Abigail joined me and we had a good little weekend together. We flew in Saturday morning and spent the day at Kelly's house!
Her girls were so fun to play with! Abigail wasn't quite as mobile as them, but she did her best (with some help from Aunt Kelly).
Saturday evening with met up with Stuart, Genevieve, and their kids for a trip to the pumpkin patch! I had neglected to bring any sort of carrier for Abigail (we don't have one, so I really didn't have a choice!) so everyone was nice enough to take turns. She was feeling really fussy, but loved being held by Uncle Stuart!
Since we didn't need any pumpkins, Abigail and I waited in line for the hayride that took you back to the entrance while everyone else rounded up their pumpkins.
The loot! Wait, some of those we brought with us....
That night, after dinner at Cafe Rio, Abigail and I headed down to Provo. Apparently I did not take a SINGLE picture of my time there :( I had a great time with the Smith clan and Abigail cried a lot, I guess that pretty much sums it up?
Sunday night we drove back up to Layton to attend Luke's viewing. To say that it was emotional would be an understatement. Katie and Danny were so gracious and kind to the very large group that came. On Monday morning, Genevieve kindly watched Abigail so Kelly and I could attend the funeral.
According to her, Abigail was a good girl! (I still somehow don't quite believe it....)
The funeral was very beautiful, with a wonderful spirit, but also very hard. Danny and Katie both spoke and I will never forget what they said. In the month since his passing, I've pondered over and over their messages about the Plan of Salvation, happiness, and trust. It's been special to me to see how many lives Luke and his family have touched, including mine. It's such a blessing to know them!
Later on Monday, we had some more play time at Aunt Kelly's house - the weather was beautiful so we spent a good chunk of it outdoors! No objections from Abigail there :)
Daryn and Reagan were such good helpers and were so nice to Abigail! She loved all the attention!
On Tuesday, it was time for us to head home - you can tell Kelly is glad to see us go. We're a lot to handle....
Abigail did fairly well on our flights; only about 20 mins of freaking out, but other than that, she slept! Yay!
I'm sure Andrew, Eve, and Halle enjoyed a little break and a fun Daddy Daughter weekend (I hope)! Abigail and I were glad to be back home with them!
I had some time tonight to just sit at the computer, and realized I had a lot of catching up to do on your blog! Thank you so much for coming to the funeral. I can't think about it without tearing up. I will NEVER forget seeing you in that line...I just about lost it. It meant more to me than you'll ever know! Love you guys!
