Eric's Boot Camp Graduation - Day 1

My youngest brother, Eric, joined the Marines at the beginning of the year and spent 3 months in boot camp in San Diego.  At the beginning of April, it was time for his graduation, and with some other members of my family, Eve, Halle, and I went out to be a part of the occasion!  (Since we knew she wouldn't be the best travelling companion, Abigail got to stay home and Andrew agreed to stay with her.)

The girls and I flew out early on the morning of Wednesday, April 1st.  We had fun in the airport and on the plane ride out!

The girls were very good on the plane, but Halle finally crashed on my lap - too early of a morning and too much excitement!

When we arrived in San Diego, we met my mom, Kelly, Reagan, and Daryn at the airport (they landed shortly before us).  After collecting our stuff, we grabbed a shuttle to the rental car place.

So excited to be together!

We got the car, grabbed some lunch, dropped our stuff at the hotel, then headed for the beach!

Eve loved the water (even though it was freezing!) and had a great time playing in it!

Halle wouldn't even let it touch her toes!  She preferred to play in the sand :)

The beach was busy, but we still had a good, messy, sun-burning time!

Next to the beach was a carnival type place (why can't I think of the right word???).  Anyway, they had a merry-go-round that we couldn't pass up!

A quick break for snacks after the ride, then into the car to head back to the hotel.  We had four little girls covered in sand from head to foot that desperately needed baths!

All fresh and clean and enjoying some "Finding Nemo" times.  They watched that movie A LOT on this trip....

We headed back out after that to find some dinner.

It took some doing, but we finally found a Chinese place where my dad, Merrill, and Evan, who had spent the day driving out from Colorado, met up with us.

We were so exhausted by this time, but Kelly and my mom summoned the energy to run into the grocery store for some supplies.  I stayed in the car with these four monkeys!  (You can't see Daryn in this picture, but I promise she's there.)

We were all staying in the same hotel: Kelly and her girls and me with mine in one room and my parents and brothers in another room a few doors down.  Nighttime hugs from Grandpa and thus ended our first day in San Diego!

(In case you're wondering, no, there's not much chance for restful sleep when you cram two adults and a four, three, two, and one year old in.)
