Day 2 dawned bright and early and we headed off to the Marine Corp Recruiting Depot (MCRD) to meet up with everyone, see what this Marine stuff is all about, and see Eric!
Unbeknownst to me, I'd lost my drivers license sometime the day before, but we still managed to get on to the base (and Kelly had to drive for the rest of the vacation - though we learned after the fact that her license was expired....).
We met up with the rest of the eager families and friends for some instructions from the drill sergeants. Anyone with any military background will have to forgive me and I will very likely use the wrong terminology as I attempt to describe our experiences over the next couple of days.
It was sunny and bright and we were ready to get going!
We all waited anxiously for the Marines to come running past in their Moto run and for our first glimpse of Eric!
I took videos of it, but no pictures :( After the run, we got to see all the soldiers, but only from a distance, then they were dismissed to get cleaned up while we did some more briefings.
When they came back, we finally got our chance to see Eric! It took us a good long while to find him in the crowds, but it was worth the wait!
Loo how good he looks!
We grabbed some lunch on base - I should have mentioned before that this was "Family Day" and while we got to spend the afternoon with Eric, it had to be on base since he was not allowed to leave.
The girls had a blast, of course ;)
After lunch, we met up with the other LDS families and graduating Marines for a little celebration!
Daryn's adorable cake face!
Halle's silly cake face!
Eric couldn't seem to get full! Next it was pizza!
These two cousins had a great time playing and talking :)
Such a cool guy!
After a long, fun day at the Depot, we took the girls back home and after way too long of searching and getting repeatedly lost, found some KFC mac and cheese for dinner. To be eaten while watching, you guess it, "Finding Nemo"!
And thus ended Day 2....and we thought we were tired at the end of Day 1!
