Ok, blogging has just not happened this summer - I'm way behind! But trying to catch up :)
The 4th day of our time in California (3rd at the parks) was spent in California Adventure! Starting with A Bug's Land!
Tuck and Roll's Drive 'Em Buggies:
The girls were all too short to ride alone, so parents got to go twice.
This being a section of the park designed specifically for little kids, it was surprising how many grown adults there were, riding by themselves. Not where I'd spend my time without little ones to please!
The girls enjoyed crashing into each other!
Flik's Flyers - hot air balloons made of leaves!
These cousins had so much fun together!
Riding Heimlich's Chew Chew Train! (And Kelly multitasking and optimizing our remaining schedule - she was amazing at keeping us on track.)
Next up, we booked it to the theater to see a live rendition of Frozen - complete with cotton candy! I loved it and the older girls were at least interested. Not so much for the littles....
And the cotton candy was gone long before the show ended....
I think this is where I watched the youngest girls while everyone else went on Soarin' Around the World? After the prior day's nausea, I had no desire to repeat the flying/plunging experience.
Monsters, Inc - racing through Monstropolis! Poor Reagan was feeling sick, so was all bundled up in her jacket :(
Despite the cloudy day, Kelly and I braved Grizzly River Run with Eve, Reagan, and Halle. Mild trepidation was we began!
We managed to survive, if just barely.
This was while the dads took Daryn, Abigail, Maddie, and Cora back to the hotel for a rest.
We had a blast playing at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail!
We tried to squeeze in all the rides that the shorter girls couldn't go on while they were back at the hotel.
Jumpin' Jellyfish!
Eve waited all by herself for her turn with Aunt Kelly:
Next we took turns riding the Silly Symphony Swings, which took a while (even with rider swap), so we had to sit and wait our turn. Eve found a grate with "Smith" on it and was very proud!
Time to swing!
We the menfolk rejoined us, we did the bakery tour (for the free bread!) and the Ghirardelli shop (for a piece of chocolate). Abigail was super tired - apparently she did not nap back at the hotel?
And of course Kelly and I had to try out the Dole whip cotton candy. Honestly, it did not live up to expectations (neither did the Dole whip we finally tried on Friday - I don't get the hype?).
Cars Land! I played with Maddie and Cora while Andrew, Lance, and Kelly took all the other girls on Mater's Junkyard Jamboree!
Lots of spinning!
Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters:
I played with the babies again :) Two rides I was content to miss.
But I did not miss Radiator Springs Racers! What a cool ride! Thanks to fast passes and rider swap, Eve, Reagan, and Halle got to ride twice! Once with me and Kelly and once with Andrew and Lance (pictured below).
Kelly's hair!
While the dads did their turn with the girls on Radiator Springs, we took the younger girls to King Triton's Carousel. A big, big, big hit with them!
Trying to pick out their animals in advance.
Buckled in and ready to go!
Cora loved the carousel! It was hard to get a good picture while also holding on to her.
Meanwhile in Radiator Springs....
Looks like they had fun!
Waiting in line for another round on the carousel!
"Yay, Mommy!"
The older girls ran over after the cars ride and made it just in time!
We took a spin on Mickey's Fun Wheel next - they even let all 11 of us in one....cage? What's the right word for it? Anyway, at our Costco here in Lubbock, they have a travel booth display towards the exit and the ad for Disneyland trips has this Ferris wheel pictured, so every time we pass it the girls excitedly point out that we went on that ride!
Cora was freaking out for most of this ride. We were all beyond ready for dinner!
We ate at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta. Eve tried a bite of the macaroni and cheese pizza. She said it was ok....
We had planned to stay late that evening to see the World of Color show - so just waiting for it to get dark!
The Mickey Ferris wheel!
We had time to ride Ariel's Undersea Adventure before the show started - it was a fun ride! And Maddie let me hold her (in line.....).
After that ride, we took our seats for the show. While we waited, we did an informal Kindergarten graduation ceremony for Eve and Reagan who both missed theirs because of this trip. We're so proud of Eve and her hard work!
Graduation bears!
I didn't get any pictures of the show because, well, all the girls were freaking out with exhaustion, we couldn't see anything (in spite of all four of us adults trying to lift/hold/carry two girls so they could see), and the show was lame. LAME! Andrew was not happy with me that we had stayed for it.....if they crowds weren't so packed in, we would have walked out in the middle. I'd say it was the worst part of our trip, but Friday night (next post) gave it a run for it's money. Looking back, I can laugh about it, but at the time?
They were literally past their limits, but I had Eve and Halle pose by the giant bear for Grizzly River Run because I'd forgotten to earlier in the day when we were riding it. (Halle is sobbing - good thing the picture's from a distance!)
Off to bed!!!!
