The 2017 Larsen Family Reunion was held at the Warm Springs Resort in Hanna, UT. First time there and we had a great time! It was a couple hours from Provo and on the way we stopped for lunch and met up with Uncle Stuart, Aunt Genevieve and family and Aunt Kelly, Uncle Uncle Lance, and family. That's a lot of cousins!
We had a little one room cabin for me and girls (electricity, but no running water), so once we got unpacked, we headed out to explore!
We quickly found the lake with paddle boats and kayaks. (Which was not "about two blocks" down the road like we were told - more like a 10 minute hike! From then on, we drove to the lake.)
And actually, this first time, I think Uncle Lance and Aunt Kelly just took the girls.
We took turns having different families in charge of meals (so we ate good!) and ate out at this pavilion. On Monday night, after dinner, we cleared the tables out and had a dance party! These girls danced their hearts out!
Even I joined in with Cora - she loved the music!
The girls slept pretty well in our cabin. And I only had to hike about 100 yards to the bathroom in the dark every night. But at least the bathrooms were real bathrooms, not outhouses! Not too shabby.
The next morning, the girls were excited about this huge moth outside our cabin:
A picture of our cabin:
We had about 100 people, I think? Some camped in tents, some in camp trailers, and some in cabins. The first night, the tents, which were close to the river (the very overflowing river) started to get flooded, so the tent campers had to move closer to the cabins.
Abigail and Lucas didn't take long to discover dirt. She spent the rest of the reunion in it.
Our lunch table!
Back to the boats!
Halle and I on the kayak!
Don't go out on the paddle boat, alone!
That's better....
Kayaking with Eve!
Relaxing in Grandpa's chair - maybe we need some of those?
Grandpa snuggles!
Cora was kind of clingy during the reunion - thank goodness for the baby carrier our friends loaned me! The stroller wasn't too ideal for the reunion. So I tried to use it sparingly, especially since our cabin was at the top of the resort's hill.
The over-run river. We stayed far, far away! Except for these pictures...
All I wanted was one good picture? You can see that didn't happen.
Taking over Maddie's chair and kickin' back!
I mentioned Abigail and the dirt? Special thanks to my cousin's husband, DJ, for pointing out that she missed her hair. She promptly rectified that oversight.
I had to hose her down with the shower hose from Mom and Dad's camp trailer to even make a dent in it. She was not a clean girl when we left....
Like Uncle Eric in Provo, Aunt Genevieve was able to tame Cora's crazies and hold her for a bit!
Yum. The red dirt does make her eyes stand out?
Lots and lots and lots of extended cousins to play with!
The last night, Wednesday, we had a pinata for the kids! Even Cora had a quick (assisted) turn.
Abigial went to town! This is post hose-down:
Halle's turn!
Eve swung like a pro!
Since it was our last night, I let Eve, Halle, and Abigail stay up late for the campfire program and marshmallows. The girls did great with their own toasting - only a little help from me.
Then, because it was a Larsen reunion, the girls begged Grandpa Larsen to tell "The Man in the Moon" - they love hearing it, just like I did when my Grandpa Larsen told it when I was younger. Ah, memories.
The next morning, we ate a quick breakfast, cleaned everything up, then headed out. Still not done with our vacation, but getting close. First, we had a couple of fun days in Layton with the Brunsons. Whew! Vacationing is hard work! And we really missed Daddy!
