I'd been noticing for several weeks how Halle's eyes didn't seem to be focusing straight and mentioned it to the pediatrician. It was driving me crazy and no one else could see it! She immediately referred her to an eye doctor and before you knew it, we were getting an exam!
Halle and I went on Friday, June 1st (after saying goodbye to the Baldwins and dropping her sisters off at a friend's house) to see what the doctor would say.
Halle did great! They gave her eye drops to dilate her eyes, which she handled like a pro! I was worried that the doctor wouldn't see anything, but as soon as she walked in and looked at Halle's eyes, she could see the left eye wandering. And complimented me for catching it early, which most people don't! After various tests, she determined that while Halle has 20/20 vision, her eye muscles are straining too hard and it's making the left eye wander.
She said Halle needed glasses with a specific prescription to make her eye muscles relax and that she'd wear them for the rest of the summer. She thinks that will do the trick, but if not, there are surgical options as well. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that....
Halle got to wear these cool shades home to protect her dilated eyes!
The next day she and I went glasses shopping! After trying many, many, MANY pairs, we settled on this one!
Halle's first choice was the "invisible" pair, but I vetoed that one....
This place was really quick and we were able to pick up her glasses that afternoon! Halle quickly adjusted to them and looks so adorable, if I do say so myself :)
We go back in August to see how she's doing!
