Spring Break to Utah

I was planning on taking the kids to Colorado with me for spring break, but when Grandma Jane (Andrew's grandma) passed away on Friday, March 8th, the day before we were set to leave, we knew our plans would be changing. We examined several options, and ended up taking the whole family to Utah for the week.  We still left the next day, just with a different destination.

Seth is excited for a real road trip!

Bad weather meant that we traveled the southern route to Utah and stayed one night at a hotel in Farmington, NM. I'll let you guess how rested we all were....

Some of us were more comfortable than others....

The girls loved getting their own breakfast in the morning!

Back on the road! On our way to Aunt Kelly's, who was kind enough to take us in on short-notice.

All told, we had great driving conditions except for - you guessed it - Soldier's Summit. I swear you could be driving through their mid-day in July and still hit snow!  :(

We showed up just in time to watch Blade devour his birthday cake!  Sorry to crash the party!

And sorry we ate all their delicious cake pops....

We love cake!

And we love Blade!  What an adorable birthday boy!

Lots of hair to brush to make ourselves presentable.

And beautiful Utah weather meant play time outside!

On Monday, we headed down to Provo and met up with our friend Marinda and her two kids for lunch at the mall.

With so many little kids, not as much time to visit as we'd like, but it was better than nothing!

Working off some wiggles in the play area!

Then we finally made it to Grandma/Aunt Laura's house!

Which meant they started playing video games....

It was so, so good to see Grandma Smith, who'd flown in for the funeral. She was, of course, super busy, so we didn't have much time together, but still awesome to see her.  Only a few more months on their mission!

Some girls were more excited than others to try an olive on their finger.

How to keep little girls still on the bar stools.

The girls loved seeing Uncles Dennis and Dave. Uncle Dennis gave Eve and Halle each a book of kid's jokes, so they spent the next few days telling those :).

A little family night Book of Mormon matching game, thanks to Aunt Lisa!

And ice cream for dessert!

Back to Aunt Kelly's to sleep!  And for some baby play time on Tuesday!

And some yummy food!

This kid was a beast to contain on this trip. He spends so much time in his bouncer at home and was so heavy to just hold all the time! Should have found room in the car for the bouncer....good thing Aunt Kelly had something we could use!

Cousins + trampolines = fun!!

Cousins + ball pits = fun!!

Just don't let Seth sit on Becca (6 months older than him) or she might die!

Grandma brought the kids cookies from the bakery! Even though she was only in town for a few days, she found time to shop for kids' clothes, too :).

Sometimes it's just easier to eat on the floor.

We miss Grandma so much!

At Uncle Lance and Aunt Kelly's house, Maddie's birthday balloons kept getting loose and floating all the way up. Uncle Lance had to get creative in his attempts to retrieve them.

Seth kept busy.

And we wore Andrew out. Apparently 9 kids will do that?

Blade took good care of Seth while we were there - helped rocked him and everything!

It's so fun to have new toys to play with! Except that Abigail kept making the barbies kiss....shrug?

National Pie Day fell during our trip, so we celebrated with the Brunsons!  Delicious pizza (not homemade) for dinner with the best peanut butter pie for dessert!

Seconds, anyone?
