Eve turned 6 months old this week! Time flies :)
She has been super fussy for a couple of weeks now (maybe, like me, she just misses Texas?). Andrew took her in for her 6 month checkup on Thursday and we found out that not only is she teething, but she also has an ear infection. Poor girl! That would explain the constant crying and the waking up 9 times a night....
Here are her 6 month stats:
-15 lbs 14 oz (50% percentile)
-26.5 in (90% percentile)
Long and lean. Who does that sound like? Cough...cough...Andrew!
Eve and Andrew were playing a game with their hands - she was actually happy for this one!
Eve can roll over (still) and stand up (as long as something is supporting her). Still working on learning on crawl. She is very good at eating milk. But nothing else. She won't take it! We have tried rice cereal, carrots, applesauce, apple juice and she won't eat it. And formula - she won't eat that either. The milk we have frozen for her runs out in a couple of days, though, so she'll learn to eat other foods fast or go hungry!
We tried to take some cute 6 month pictures of her, but it's really hard to get her to smile right now. This is the best we could do:
I decided to make her a half cake for her half birthday (thanks Kelly for reminding me!). It did not go well. I blame it on the sleepiness. I made the devils food cake (yes, it was intentional - she certainly hasn't been an angel lately!) and cream cheese frosting. Things took a turn for the worst with the assembling/decorating part.
I don't know what I was thinking, but I tried to stack the two layers on top of each other when the bottom layer had a rounded top. Needless to say, there was some sliding that took place. And I was in a hurry so I tried to frost the cake immediately after making the frosting, which was a mistake. The cream cheese was so warm from being beaten that the frosting was too soft and just slid off the cake and pooled on the platter. I'm not kidding. I wish I was.....
I'm not even going to talk about trying to decorate it. I colored the frosting all pretty, but the cake was sliding already, so I just slapped the outer layer on and snapped some pictures before it fell apart.
You be the judge:
At least it tasted good!
In case you thought I was kidding, this is what it looked like the next day:
Live and learn. I consider this a dry run for her one year cake. By then, we'd better be sleeping better and I'll be more aware of what I'm doing!
Kelly made Eve a bib to celebrate - so cute!!!! And it fits perfectly :) It was even deserving of a smile....or a grin....
Happy 6 months Eve! We love you!
i told you, i didnt make it; the baby did. and the cake looks really good in the first pictures!
