On Saturday Andrew turned....22....plus 7!
While it was a pretty quiet day, Eve and I tried to make it special for him!
I guess the celebrating started in the wee hours - I did my part and got up with Eve during the night (only three times - she's getting better....???) so that Andrew could get some much needed/deserved rest. He is so great and gets up with her every night so that I can get my sleep for work. Can you believe that she's almost 7 months old and not sleeping through the night?! Ah! We've tried the whole, let her cry thing, but I don't think our neighbors appreciate that. The joys of apartment living...anyway, that is all a side note. We'll figure something out!
I got up early on Saturday to play with Eve so that Andrew could get a little more sleep. And then we made omelets for breakfast. They weren't the best - I wasn't on my A-game, for sure! But sadly, that wasn't the last of our birthday food-related disappointments :(

Eve had a lot of fun playing with Andrew's balloons before he got up! And yes, I was careful to not let her suck on them!

I found this bow in my ribbons box when I went to get the ballons and it still had the sticky paper on the bottom of it - it had just enough stick left to stay on Eve's head for most of the morning. The bow still survives today, but the sticky paper has disappeared....oops! A little extra fiber never hurt a baby, right?

We had some fun playing together after breakfast and Andrew and Eve showed me what they work on while I'm gone during the day. Yikes! I'm not ready for this!
Even though it was his birthday, Andrew was nice enough to watch Eve while I went to our stake center for a couple of hours for an organ workshop with Don Cook of the BYU Organ Faculty. I was just called as our ward organist, so a refresher was much needed! Our stake center is in the same parking lot as our temple, so I snapped a quick picture - isn't it beautiful!?

After I got home, Eve and I gave Andrew his present: two hours of free time all time himself! We went to the store to run our errands and forced him to remain behind so that he could have the whole house to himself and get some reading done - I hope he enjoyed it! He also got other presents, but this was the best one, I bet :)
We couldn't decide to go out for dinner or to make something at home, so we opted for both! We went out on Saturday and Andrew picked a bonus birthday meal for Sunday. The Saturday dinner was our second food disaster in one day! Andrew decided that he wanted chicken fingers from Dairy Queen because last time we had them (on a road trip) they were so yummy! So we drove to the DQ by our house, only to learn that the DQs in Michigan don't have anything besides ice cream! I don't know if all of their restaurants have changed their menus, or just the ones around here, but we were sorely disappointed. So I suggested that we drive to Sonic - surely they would have chicken fingers! So we drove around....for 30 minutes....trying to find the Sonic! It was not where we remembered it....we had to call my brother to find us directions (no, we don't have smart phones and have no intention of changing that). We finally made it to Sonic and pulled into the drive thru, only to learn that they too do not have chicken fingers!!! So we pulled out of the drive thru and in desperation went to KFC (which Andrew doesn't really like, but was willing to try....) and got some chicken fingers and headed home. I felt so bad that we couldn't find just what he wanted, but the KFC wasn't bad....
Eve trying to tell us it will be ok:

Luckily, LUCKILY, the dessert Andrew had chosen turned out ok - peanut buttery, marshmallowie brownies! Yum!

As I mentioned, we did birthday dinner part 2 on Sunday night - crock pot saucy pork chops, rice, veggies, and rolls. It was good! Andrew was on the phone the whole time (thanks Eric :) ), but we got over it.....

Happy birthday Andrew! One year older and wiser too!
Happy Birthday, Andrew! You know, Eve is looking more and more like her Daddy...
