On to day two of our family reunion! Most of the family started the day with a 5k run....we did not. Hey! We would have had to get up SUPER early to make it up there in time and it just wasn't going to happen. Not with how poorly Eve sleeps!
But we did make it up right at the end of the run in time to hear the awards and the results of the raffle. We didn't win anything. A big surprise since we weren't there to be entered! :) Sadly, we also missed breakfast...
But we all got to wear our family reunion t-shirts!
I didn't put Eve in her's until later in the day for fear of an.....accident....
We were just in time for luau practice, though. Each of the different groups (uncles, aunts, female cousins, male cousins, and small children) got to learn a different dance in preparation for the luau festivities that night! More on that to come.
After dance practice, Andrew and I left Eve with her Aunts Laura and Lisa while we headed to the mall. I was in desperate need of some capris. It was SO hot! So we made a quick trip, and managed to stop by Wingers on the way back for some Asphalt Pie! Yum, yum!
Of course, it was lunch time when we got back, but that was just fine with us after missing breakfast!
That afternoon was spent largely indoors. They had carnival games set up outside which looked fun, but we were to scared of the heat. So we hurried through lunch and took refuge in a cool room in the church!
Eve enjoyed herself because she got to play with her cousin (technically second cousin) Addie. Eve simply adores playing with other babies/kids - whatever! She's not picky!
They were super cute together and we managed to get some good pictures!
Oh, and Nathan, another cousin, joined in a fun for a bit!
Andrew stayed busy playing Duck, Duck, Goose....
Eve entertained herself with a duck of her own.
How cute is this?! We didn't even pose them - they rolled to be next to each other!
That afternoon we had more dance practice for our show after dinner. I didn't get to fully participate because it coincided with someone's nap time....
I apparently got off easy - the guys had to get "made up" for their performances!
During a delicious luau feast (kalua pork - oh, my sweet, delicious pork....), Eve found another friend - this time in Chloe. Chloe's a bit older, but they still had fun!
The uncles got the worst of it in terms of having to dress up - face paint! It looked awesome, though!
Here's Andrew's festive parents!

After dinner, our program began. Now, you'll have to forgive me, but there's NO WAY I can remember the names of all the dances. Oh, but I do know the name of the one performed by the uncles (thank you BYU football!). They treated us to the hakka - and it was a TREAT!
They were followed by the female cousins with some sort of girlish dance - all the pictures of it besides this one turned out blurry so you don't get to see us in action. It was a lot of fun!
Next up were the aunts with another beautiful dance - Andrew's mom is on the far left. Looking good, ladies!
My personal favorite was the slap dance performed by the male cousins! So cool! And yes, I asked Andrew not to take his shirt off...
The children rounded out our portion of the program with a cute little number! It all came together pretty well considering that we were all new to this and had minimal practice time!
Andrew's cousin Kevin's wife Naomi was the one who put this luau together (thanks Naomi!) so after the Smith family portion, Naomi's family performed some real dances. They were amazing!
Here's a shot of the whole group throughly enthralled!
Andrew and his sweet luau baby girl:
A treat for the whole family!
And of course, I wanted a picture at the poster - thanks Andrew for NOT cooperating :)
ok i think i can officially claim the title of Aunt of the Favorite Toys. first the burp clothes, then the rubber ducky....its like i can read her mind!
