Broomfield Pre-Christmas

We had the BEST holidays EVER this year!  Maybe cause none of us were sick, or maybe because January was so awful, that looking back, December seems that much better?  Or maybe because we got to see so much (almost all!) of our family?!  Who knows, but we really did have a great time!

We left Texas on Friday, December 20th and made the 13 hour drive to Denver without incident, from what I can recall.  We were very wise before leaving and invested in a DVD player (with two screens!) for the car.  I'm not saying we let the girls watch movies the WHOLE way, but it definitely helped pass the time.

We arrived at my parents' house to a full on party!  For Christmas this year, all of my siblings, their spouses, and kids were in attendance, so we had a big group staying at the house!  12 adults and 9 kids, ages 4 and under.  Never a dull moment!

Even though it was cold, the kids couldn't wait to get outside with grandma on Saturday once we were all safely arrived.

Pinecone hunting with grandma!

Once the pinecone search had resulted in a full basket, it was off to the backyard to play on the play fort!

Totally worth freezing for! (apparently)

Backyard races - anything to keep the blood flowing!

Grandpa and Daryn had the right idea - stay inside where it's warm!

A great deal of our time was spent our this table - food and games!

I got cute matching dresses for the girls for Christmas and they even wore them three Sundays in a row (once each in Texas, Colorado, and Utah) and this seems to be the only picture I got of them.  Sigh.  But I'm so proud of my two little cuties!

On Sunday night, we went for a drive to see the Christmas lights - we only made it to a couple of neighborhoods (including the biggest, best house ever - pictured here with Eve and I) before heading back.  I don't remember the details, but I think Eve fell and got cut?  So we called it a night.

Monday was another busy day with lots to do.  And Eve did them all in style, thanks to Aunt Genevieve who works wonders with little girls hair!  Doesn't Eve look so grown up????  And so beautiful!

The plans for that afternoon included a swim at the rec center!  Eve was very cautious about the water and wouldn't even try this alligator slide until the very end - then she realized she loved it and we couldn't get her off!

She mostly just preferred to bob around in the chest deep water - the lazy river and bigger water slides didn't interest her.  Halle just enjoyed the splash time and is a lot less anxious about getting water in her face than her big sister is!

Navy spent some time in the water and some on the outside with grandma :)

And grandpa!

Halle threw up (in the pool - this is why they have all that chlorine!) about 45 mins before we were ready to leave so she and I sat out the rest of the time.  Just in time for Eve to find her courage!

Halle was very disappointed not to be able to go back in, but this is about a close as I let her get until we left.  Silly little water bug!
