We had a blast at the family reunion! So many people to see and cousins to play with!
And tire swings to ride! I think Uncles Lance and Evan had to spend a good part of each day pushing kids on it:
While I got to hold my newest nephew Lukas for the first time!
The days passed in a blur with a lot of fun outdoor activities. Kelly and I took the girls on a walk one morning, up the dirt road. A large group from the reunion had gone shooting a ways up that road, so we thought maybe we'd walk to where they were, then hitch a ride back.
Luckily for us, Evan drove past us on his way back to the lodge (he'd forgotten something) because he let us know we weren't anywhere close to the shooting range yet. So we gave up on our hike and got a ride from him back to camp. The car was already full of gear, so the girls are enjoyed sitting on top of each other and various other piles of things as we bounced our way back down the mountain.
The girls favorite activity was tubing down the river! Aunt Kelly was gracious enough to take them; it was Eve first who really wanted to go, but even Halle had a turn later!
Abigail remained on dry land with me :)
Halle testing the river to see if she's really interesting in floating...she decided she was....
Reagan and Daryn helped me watch for the tubing party to pass under us!
Eve went with Aunt Jamie this second time and Halle with Aunt Kelly - they're lucky to have such nice aunts!
They both enjoyed it immensely - and the ice cream treat afterwards, too!
One more trip for Kelly and Lance with their own girls for once! And Uncle Evan, of course!
The girls also enjoyed decorating and launching rockets, even though it was very hot outside....
....and we quickly tired.....
Nothing like a little indoor time to cool things off and restore drooping energy :)
This playground might be small, but my girls loved it! If ever they wondered away from me, I knew where to look first:
A view of our beautiful surroundings:
Stuart and Genevieve brought their dog, Winter, and Eve and Halle loved her! She can be a bit rough with kids (just because she doesn't know her own size or strength), but my girls didn't mind.
Eve 'climbing' a tree :)
One night we had a dance party in the pavilion and oh man, my girls went to town!
Even Abigail couldn't resist shaking it!
And look, they found another dog to pet :) With the exception of Abigail, who's terrified of animals, my girls love dogs!
A little quiet time with cousins in the lodge:
And then there was the stream - for the sake of my sanity, I'm glad they didn't ask permission to play in it until our last full day there, because once I said yes, they lived to be in it! Which meant I got to watch them - with Abigail constantly trying to make her way into it as well!
I did my best to distract her with the swings and slide.
Or sunglasses - anything to keep her focus off that stream and how much fun her sisters were having!
One of my favorite parts of the reunion (besides seeing so much family?) - the food!!!! We ate so well, even if the girls preferred to eat on the slide.
And since my parents, along with my Aunt Jo Anne, were running the reunion, they were plenty busy - but not too busy to squeeze in some time with their grandkids!
Here's a view of our room - same room we were in 2 years ago. Eve and I slept in the twin beds, Halle on the floor next to me, and Abigail in her pack n play. Cozy!
My attempt to get Eve to wear pj's (she normally sleeps naked) was to let her try my shirt. Almost worked....not quite novel enough to tempt her....
We had a great time at the reunion and were sorry to see it end, but looked forward to what came next - some time in Provo with our Smith family!
