Halle Starts Kindergarten! / Back to School!

Our big event(s) in August was heading back to school!  Eve and Halle came with me to Walmart, armed with their school supply lists, to pick out everything they'd need!

It was a bit hectic, and then we did self check-out so they could each ring up their own items.  It's hard for Eve to keep from helping Halle...

We got haircuts in preparation for the big day, although neither wanted one and both insisted on only a trim.  You basically can't tell their hair is any shorter.

Like I said, not a huge difference, but at least the ends are cleaned up???

Back to school/Meet the teacher night was a crazy party!  I took the girls and we dropped off their supplies after finding their rooms and meeting their teachers.  Both teachers seem great!  It's going to be a good year!

Finally the long awaited 1st day arrived!  Monday, August 20th!

Halle was super excited and ready to go!  Although I begged her not to leave me.  Funny story: the week before school started, I asked Halle if she was excited to start school.  Surprisingly, she shook her head 'no' and started to tear up.  I asked her why not and she replied, "I don't even know what 7+7 is!  Is it 13???"  :)  I had to explain that she didn't need to know everything to start school and that we go to school to learn!  She's already plenty prepared for kindergarten with how much she knows - she felt much better about starting after that little chat.  Glad we cleared that up!

Nothing Eve's not used to by now - she'll do great, like always!

The Frenship Tiger was there to welcome the kids!

Abigail and I dropped Halle off at Kindergarten while Andrew and Cora took Eve to the 2nd grade hallway.

Mrs. Lackey's going to be a great fit for Halle!  And their are three others kids from our ward also in her class, so she has built in friends!

Halle was assigned to the standing table for the first seating rotation and she was super excited about it - and about play dough to use while everyone got settled in!

Andrew said it was a little too crazy in 2nd grade, so no picture with the teacher, but Eve was ready to head into class!

During the second week of school, we were able to go eat lunch with the girls.  On Halle's first day of trying school lunch instead of a lunchbox!  She was a fan and hasn't taken a lunchbox since.

Abigail and Cora chose not to behave (Abigail wouldn't even sit by us - that's her way in the back) so shortly after Halle left and 2nd grade arrived, Andrew had to take them out to the car to wait while I enjoyed talking to Eve during lunch.  Apparently I didn't take a picture.  But it was fun to see them both and I'm sure we'll be doing it again soon!

We're so proud of our girls and how well they do at school, academically and socially!
