Our last few weeks of summer break were pretty low key, but still fun!
The girls practiced their tossing skills at the library's end of summer/reading program celebration. Lots of tossing games and LOTS of little dollar store plastic prizes. Yippee! Just after we'd cleaned out their toys....
The balloons were a big hit!
The girls, especially Halle, have an obsession with making forts. Daily. Usually right after we clean their room.....
Menchies coupons were part of their reading program prizes and the girls loved choosing their own flavors and toppings! Some needed more help than others....
We love ice cream!
Don't worry, Cora shared with Mommy:
Our friends the Seegmillers were gone basically all summer, and are moving to Nashville in October, so when they got back in August, we partied it up with them as much as possible! Naomi, Jarvis, and Emi are Eve, Halle, and Abigail's best friends and the girls will be super sad to see them go.
They introduced us to the Windmill Museum - three years in Lubbock and we'd never been there. The miniature trains were a huge hit!
My personal favorite was the air conditioning :)
One room is just a huge mural with a list of items for the kids to try to locate.
Windmills on display outside too!
Let's find the most dangerous thing here and do that!
And of course Cora wouldn't be left out.
And surprisingly, no one fell! Even with some wall dancing mixed in there.
Eve's been working on braiding, with mostly my hair to practice on. She's getting better!
Abigail was through the roof excited to be invited to her first big girl birthday party - for her friend Emi. Until we got to the part about actually dropping her off, when she started crying and begging for me to take her home. We worked through it and she (of course) ended up having a blast! She still talks about playing kiss the frog with "red stuff on her lips". :)
Another birthday for me - 36 years! And a yummy angel food cake to make the occasion.
Don't mind the ridiculously horrible picture. 34 weeks pregnant, but the girls (with some help from Daddy) made me a little birthday sign!
The water beads have been a huge hit this summer, but all the girls like to do is sort them by colors.
The climbing wall at the Science Spectrum with the Seegmillers!
More forts....
Andrew got me an ice cream maker for my birthday! Here's the inaugural batch - it's seen quite a bit of use since then!
Look how much Eve's improving her braiding skills!
The first batch of ice cream was paired with an apple crisp pie and it was oh so good!
Eve and Halle's last week at library story time before school started. They'll miss Miss Tiffany!
Our last swim of the season, at the YMCA with the Seegmillers! Another thing we'd never done and were big fans of! The water slides, in particular, were a major hit! They had two slides that littler kids could go on so we spent a large chunk of time in that part of the pool.
Here comes Abigail!
(She wanted a picture on both slides.)
Halle! (Closely followed by Emi)
Cora was practicing her "diving", or so she said.
And Andrew bravely took on 6 kids at once! (Two are behind him.)
Perhaps our last summer rainstorm? The girls begged to go out in it, but then were hesitant to actually get wet!
They finally warmed up to it, except for Halle, who stayed on the porch.
Silly girls! Abigail and Cora really miss Eve and Halle when they're at school.
But having Andrew home full time while he job searches and only having to take two kids to the store is not too shabby!
We needed another dresser for baby #5, so Andrew found this beauty at Goodwill. I was not thrilled.
But look what he transformed it into! I had to apologize for all the negative things I said about it.
And Cora being cute :)
We finished the month with dental appointments for all - everyone's teeth were nice and clean and there were no tears this time around! We'll call that a win!
