We love celebrating our Savior's resurrection! It's the happiest, best holiday of the year!
And this year, I happened to go to Hobby Lobby shortly before Easter and found some cute window stickers - the girls loved each putting up a few. Cora didn't want hers spread out.
The Amarillo Stake's playgroup hosted an Easter egg hunt - this was the first time we went to the stake playgroup.
Then we played at the park. This is where we were when I heard that the church announced the closing of the Salt Lake Temple at the end of 2019 for 4 years for renovations!
Also, Seth's first time swinging? This was definitely our first park outing in Amarillo.
Taking inventory of the goods.
This was Friday, April 19th, and since the girls had the day off school, I did a picnic lunch for them when we got home. Cora did the honors of carrying it outside.
That afternoon, the Amarillo Law Association hosted an egg hunt downtown and the Easter bunny was even there!
There were lots of eggs! And they went fast! I think the whole hunt was over in 3-4 minutes.
"What's this green stuff, Mom?"
"I'm not sure I like it....."
"It feels a little.....weird...."
"Yeah, I'm going to need you to pick me up."
"Wait. Eggs, you say? Ok, I'm good."
On Saturday morning, the girls went to the church to play with friends while Daddy did basketball and when they got back, I met them at the front door with their baskets! Indoor egg hunt!
It took some doing, but they found all 80!
On Sunday morning, the girls barely had time to find their baskets before church. And it took them longer than ever, in this big, new house. There may have been tears shed and lots of frustration.
And Daddy had to intervene and help with almost all of them. Daddy's a good finder.
Ready for Easter Sunday meetings!
(It was after church on this day that the bishop extended to me the call to be the new Relief Society president. Let's just say my mind was whirling for the rest of the day and beyond. Good thing I wasn't sustained for another month or so.)
After church we made some empty tomb rolls! They turned out much better this year using Rhodes frozen dough instead of crescent dough from the tubes. Lesson learned.
And Seth finally had a chance to find his basket!
"Wow, Mommy! This is the best!"
Those look good enough to eat!
And they're empty inside, just like the tomb was on Easter morning!
Some washcloths the girls got in their baskets:
And we FINALLY colored eggs this year! The girls still haven't let me forget that we never got around to it last year....
Unfortunately, I'd hard boiled the eggs over a week before, thinking we'd get it done before Easter, but that didn't happen. So we didn't eat them. But we did have some egg wars before throwing them away. Cora was super vicious and cracked everyone else's eggs, which caused some tears.
She was happy, though :)
Happy Easter!
