Happy Birthday to Seth!

Seth decided to celebrate turning 1 by attempting his first tentative steps in September. Sometimes with a little help from Daddy.

He sure loves Daddy! Those men do need to stick together.

Abigail helped me one day pick out some presents from Walmart. She got lots of compliments and cute looks pushing his quacky duck around the store.

Playing with Halle a couple days before the big day!

And just so you realize he's not always a happy camper....some days are more like this.

We started his birthday celebration the evening of the 16th, after the fire chief invitation at the girls' school, because Andrew was leaving in the morning to attend a seminar/training thing in Corpus Christi for a few days. He was leaving the seminar a day early and arriving home Thursday night so he wouldn't miss the fun on Friday. But, it did mean he had to miss Seth's first birthday.

A dinner of breakfast food for the almost-birthday boy!

"Forget the plate, Mom. It's just holding me back."

Everyone was super sad to say goodbye to Daddy in the morning.

But no one more so than Seth. I don't know if he'll ever forgive Andrew for this.

But his very first peanut butter and honey sandwich for lunch didn't hurt!

And I can't remember who this child is, but apparently I babysat on Seth's birthday?

His first go at a sippy cup! It's a big day of firsts!

Hahahaha, here are our attempts at birthday pictures. This kid has the cheesiest face!

Trying real milk for the very first time. Unlike some of his older sisters who took a while to adjust, Seth took a sip, pulled the bottle out and looked at it, than dove right in! He was a fan from the start. Whew!

A birthday dinner of mac and cheese with hot dogs!

But apparently the plate tasted better.

After dinner we tried for more/better pictures in the front yard. He immediately took off.

"I'm out of here, Mom!"

He definitely has many, if not all, of us wrapped around his fingers!

Finally time to open presents!

And/or try to capture the balloons.

"What's this?"

Starting to investigate (with all the girls looking over his shoulder - I cut them out of the picture.)

It's a truck!

This present is more fun to sit on.

"Fine, I'll open it."

A tunnel, quacky duck, and a fire truck!

Trying to get him to give the tunnel a chance....

Way too scary!

Don't judge my look - keep in mind Andrew was out of town and I had to manage all this alone. Seth loved those balloons!

And, last but not least, some dinosaur cake to top the night off!

"Just let me have it, Mommy!"

Not before we sing to you!

Ok, finally Seth's turn with his very own cake. Let's see how he does!

I particularly loved when he started shaking his hand to fling it off his fingers.

So good!

Time to hose off!

Here are some stats about Seth at 1 year old:

-28 lbs (98%), 31" tall (94%), 50 cm head (100%)
-Learned how and is tall enough to open doors (thank you pediatrician's office)
-Loves balls!
-Down to eating once a night
-Still has just 7 teeth
-Loves to give high fives
-Takes 2 naps a day
-Instantly took to milk over formula and loves it
-Size 5 diapers
-Can push up to a stand by himself
-Has taken a few independent steps
-Said "up" on October 11th (so a little past his birthday) - his first word!

All clean and ready for bed! What an awesome birthday it was!

These pictures are from the week after his birthday, when he really started trying to walk!

And another demonstration of his "I don't want to eat that face".

Now that he's one, he can start helping with chores around the house. This kid loves to sweep!

Happy birthday, Seth! We sure do love you!
