Eve and Halle didn't start school for another week, so we had some time to have fun!
Using our Science Spectrum pass from Lubbock,we visited Amarillo's Discovery Center and had a blast!
"Ahoy, mates! I spot fun on the horizon!"
Too short to quite make the shot....
You had to use your arm strength to lift yourself on these pulleys - some help from Mom was required.
An actual airplane the girls took turns "flying".
Cora putting on a performance in the kids' area.
"Look, Mom! No hands!" Wait....
It's been years since I've seen one, but they had a ball pit! The girls were beyond excited and begged until I climbed in with them. I immediately remembered why these things have mostly disappeared. It was so nasty, sticky, and smelly. Kids don't notice those things those....
After our morning at the museum, we thought it'd be fun to meet up with Daddy for lunch! Maybe a little Chinese? The only problem was, the place we met up at was closed. We drove around and around (Amarillo has a serious shortage of Chinese restaurants) and finally found something close to our house called China Star. We went in only to discover that it was a buffet. The girls were in heaven!
They'd never been to a buffet and the concept blew their minds - in a good way. Unfortunately, neither Andrew or I were very hungry and had just planned on sharing a meal. $40 later, we definitely did not get our money's worth. I wasn't happy about it (and the food wasn't even very good!) so I let the girls have as much of the self-serve ice cream as they wanted, which was a lot.
They've been begging to go back ever since. (That will not be happening - next time we do a buffet, it will be Golden Corral, or something, and we will go when we're hungry!)
The girls were totally freaked out that random cats kept showing up in our backyard. The first time it happened, they wanted to go out and play with it and I *might* have hinted at rabies, scratches, and cat bites. Now they come running and yelling for me whenever they see one. One extreme to the other, apparently?
Seth's been having lots of fun in his jumper and the girls discovered the joy of using it as a swing. He and they love it, but they push him so high sometimes, there's the worry of it coming off. So we had to temper it down to little swings.
Most meals, the girls eat here at the short counter. We've been here just over three months now, and I don't think we've ever all sat down at the big table together. Something to work on. Seth likes watching his sisters eat :)
And we all like watching him because, well, he's adorable!
We celebrated our last night of freedom on Sunday, January 6th, by making ridiculously huge cookies. My hunt for the perfect chocolate chip cookie continues. These were not it, but the sheer size made up for the flatness. No complaints from the girls!
Alright, enough goofing off! Time for school!
