Speaking of bawling.....
We made the move in two trips because, well, we have a lot of stuff. The weekend before our official move, we got a small truck and took up the non-essentials (primarily books and food storage). I was so proud of myself for having it all packed and waiting nicely in the garage before Andrew got home on Friday night.
Turns out, the 15' truck can hold a lot more, so we grabbed a bunch more stuff on the fly and packed it in!
But not before the girls checked the truck out :)
Bunk beds, some bookcases, a lots of other odds and ends got to come!
Then we made the 2 hour drive to Amarillo and dropped it all off! This was Saturday, December 15th. Dropped it in the garage and play room, then headed home!
One last story time with Miss Tiffany - we are going to miss her so much! (And we've already been back once to visit....)
And a big goodbye to Marcus and Millie, her two cow stuffed animal friends.
The next couple of days basically looked like this. (Plus tons of cookies in the kitchen.) Trying to get all the laundry folded and put away before Andrew got home on Wednesday night. For Christmas, he got Thursday and Friday the 20th and 21st off, which was super good timing.
We picked up the truck on Friday and got to work! Some friends from the ward came to help Andrew load as I was still packing...
Cora 'helped' load.
The McNaughton's kids got to come play while their dad helped Andrew. So fun! Jael was in my nursery class and I'll admit, one of my favorites.
Throwing what's left of the snow :) Against the house....not sure who came up with this idea, but it kept them entertained.
After a long day with LOTS of packing/loading, it was time for our last sleep in Lubbock. Just a few blankets left in the rooms.
We'll miss you, tumbleweeds! Maybe Amarillo has those too?
Andrew had arranged for kind people in our new Amarillo ward to help unload the truck at 4pm on Saturday, so by 1pm or so, he headed out with the jam-packed (but hey, it all fit!) truck while the girls and I stayed in Lubbock to clean. Apparently Abigail wasn't happy about it?
It took a lot longer than I was expecting and we didn't finish and leave until 4pm. Good thing Andrew didn't stick around!
All this work in exhausting...
We had so many kind friends from the ward come and help us on Friday and Saturday and we're so grateful! They brought treats, played with the kids, held Seth, and obviously helped load.
All emptied out and time to leave. This was Abigail and Cora's room:
Eve and Halle's:
The girls' bathroom:
Our master room:
And my nice big bathroom with a tub :( (Amarillo's master bath is tiny - and just 3/4, no tub.)
This little house took some getting used to after our space in Garland, but it was home for 3 1/2 years (the longest we've lived anywhere as a family) and we (ok, everyone except Andrew) really miss it! It's hard to look at these pictures, even 3 months later, because it's making me homesick.
There aren't words, so I won't try. We love Lubbock!
