I'll include our Christmas Eve and Christmas festivities in this post :)
Christmas Eve was Sunday. Andrew took the healthy girls to church with Grandpa, Grandma, and the Brunsons. We tried to get a Christmas dress picture, but you can see how well that went. (Eve is crying because Cora hit her in the face with her head.)
After they returned from church, we tried some snow pictures - more had fallen!
Cora would not hold still and LOVED running around (in her Sunday shoes!) in the cold snow.
Hot chocolate helped everyone warm up after Mommy's cruel photo shoot attempt.
Our traditional Christmas Eve picture!
Abigail feeling a little better, but with the throw up bowl close by....
On Sunday afternoon, we did a cousins gift exchange. We figured it likely that this would be the only Christmas with 7 little girls (if at the very least because Aunt Kelly's having a baby boy in March), so each girl picked out a $5 gift, we wrapped them up, and did an exchange. Each girl drew a piece a paper that said something like "Trade players with someone who is smiling", etc. I think they each got to go twice so the presents were really randomized!
Time to open what you ended up with! Other than having Eve trade with Cora, the presents worked out really well and everyone was very well behaved about it.
Yay for Christmas Eve presents!
That evening, we had a big dinner then attempted a Christmas hymn sing-a-long and nativity reading/acting out.
I played the piano and Grandpa was sitting right behind me, usually one of the louder singers. Shortly into the singing, he fell silent and I thought he was just overcome with emotion. Nope, turns out, he had fallen asleep. The craziness of 7 little girls running around with pre-Christmas jitters and he fell asleep!
We had a couple of angels and girls who took turns being Mary, but it all worked out in the end.
With much prodding from Grandma....
After getting ready for bed, the girls hung their stockings with care:
I really wanted a picture with all 7 girls by their stockings but Cora did NOT want to cooperate.
This is what happened when I attempted to force her.
Picking cookies for Santa's plate!
And writing notes!
"Yep, that's the one."
Halle thought so too. Hope Santa like pistachio cookies!
Complete with egg nog!
After the stocking incident, Cora was already in bed.
Uncle Lance read everyone else Twas the Night Before Christmas:
That night, Aunt Kelly accidentally left her phone downstairs and look what she found on it in the morning!! We had a visitor!
The girls slept until after 7, which we were grateful for.
So excited to see what the stockings held!
Cora couldn't wait to eat her orange :)
Scrambled eggs and cinnamon rolls for breakfast, of course!
Cora opened one present as the youngest person there, then lost it and had to go back to bed.
Everyone was excited about their presents and did a decent job sharing.
"Helping" Grandpa with the big present - a carpet cleaner that he and Grandma wanted.
Superhero masks from Uncle Stuart and Aunt Genevieve!
When Cora woke back up, she did much better opening her remaining presents in the front room, away from the noise in the back.
Grandpa liked the relative quiet in the front room better too.
Yummy leftovers for lunch!
Maddie being adorable :)
Uncle Eric was in for a surprise when he and Aunt Cassidy visited that evening. 6 hyper girls who wanted to wrestle!
I think they won.
Just like that, Christmas was over!
