Colorado Trip! Pre-Christmas

We left the relative warmth of Lubbock for.....

We drove out on Wednesday afternoon and got in, problem-free, that night.  The girls wasted no time in joining Andrew for screen time on Thursday morning.  Aunt Kelly, Uncle Lance, and girls had arrived a day or two before us so we had cousins to play with!

And by play, I mean have screen time with.....?

But also to make Christmas sugar cookies with!

Everyone got to roll their own dough then cut out and sprinkle their own shapes!

It was a successful mess!

Checking out the lighting of the lights!  (Catch the man falling off the roof!)

On Thursday night we went to visit Uncle Eric and Aunt Cassidy's apartment (we wanted to see their kitties!) and had to wait outside for a few minutes in the dark.  It was cold!!!

Good thing Grandpa knows how to build such excellent fires!

More screen time on Friday!

Ever since we'd arrived, Eve had been begging to play in the snow.  It was so, so cold, but we finally relented and she was in heaven!

Everyone joined in!

As bundled as we get, from Texas.  And a few of the things are borrowed.....

Doesn't take much snow to make these girls happy!

Preparing for a post-play fire means breaking kindling with your hands!  Grandpa showed the girls how and they were pretty good at busting the pieces!

And, of course, Friday night was pizza night!  Our girls had already started throwing up by this time, if I remember correctly.  Eve woke up one night (our first or second there) covered in throw up, then Halle the next night.  Both of them recovered pretty quickly, being sick for no more than a day.  But, because of all the illness, we hadn't invited any friends over for pizza.  More for us!

The girls loved to each pick their own mugs!

Abigail picked a cute dainty mug.

I swung to the other end of the spectrum.

Cora just loved meals with so many girls around!

That night we roasted marshmallows:

With assistance....

And got bedtime stories from Grandma.

More screen time on Saturday, the 23rd, and apparently not much else.

Except that Abigail got sick and it was more long-lasting than her sisters' illness had been.

We all slept upstairs, with Kelly, Lance, and Maddie in the first bedroom, the 5 older girls in the middle room together, and Andrew, Cora, and me in the last bedroom.  Except that with the nightly throw up, we ended up with at least one extra girl in our room usually.  Mostly Abigail.  By Sunday morning, Christmas Eve, she was pretty miserable.  She and I stayed home from church and she joined me in the bathroom while I showered.  She fell asleep like this, poor girl.  But the nap seemed to help!  She was sick the rest of that day, but feeling better in time for Christmas!
