All Else December

Before we talk about Christmas break, I'll share everything else we did in December.

Seth wanted to try to help take out the trash....

And one warm afternoon after chemo, we had time to rake leaves before picking Eve and Halle up from school!

Look at those blue eyes!

Abigail wanted to try to ride her bike, but quickly changed her mind....

"I see you, Mommy!" Seth LOVES being outside and goes nuts whenever we have to come in.

"Mom - take my picture!" Cora says this basically every time we go shopping. Good thing she's so adorable!

Halle had her well check and then had to come with us for a WIC appointment cause we didn't have time to drop her off at school first. (Yes, we're still doing WIC - every time I try to end it, they find another way to qualify our family and keep us on. Shrug.)

Looking cute after eating Chick fil A at school with Eve for her birthday!

Seth also looks cute when he eats - especially when it's chocolate chip pancakes.

Abigail was too tired to make it into bed - so close.

We did our annual Christmas cookie baking and passing out to friends! Although I think we only made 8 kinds this year, and one was a new try and wasn't very good. Mint chocolate chip - we won't be doing that one again.

Taking out the trash didn't go so well, but maybe sweeping will? Seth loves brooms and always tries to steal them when I'm cleaning.

Splitting the Thanksgiving turkey wishbone - I can't remember who won, but it seems like Abigail wants it more?

The Jessie Rees Foundation (a pediatric oncology charity that sends out Joy Jars to kids doing chemo) selected our family to receive a $1,000 Christmas check! They pick 50 families from around the country and we were so grateful to be chosen! Their tag line is NEGU - never ever give up.

After the ward Christmas party, I had several of the hanger snowflakes left, so I put them up outside. We may not do Christmas lights, but it showed a little holiday spirit, at least.

Seth had some fun in December. His ear drum ruptured (would be getting tubes in January!) and he started doing this weird thing where he wouldn't put pressure on his left leg. I think it was his left. He would either limp severely or just collapse and crawl instead. He wasn't fussy about it, but he did it constantly for a week or two. So at his 15 month check up, the pediatrician sent us to the hospital to do labs and get an x-ray to see what was going on. Poor boy was already tired from getting immunizations!

They didn't find anything, which was good, but he continued to favor that leg through the rest of the month (I have witnesses from Christmas - everyone in CO saw it!) and then it stopped and he's never done it since. Who knows?

He bounced back quickly that afternoon.

With minimal fussiness....

Seth turned 15 months old in December and here are some stats about him:
-29 lbs (99th percentile), 32 1/2 in (91st percentile), and I don't remember the measurement, but his head was 100th percentile
-Has 7 teeth
-Sleeps 7pm - 6am on average, getting up once a night for a sippy cup (nope, not sleeping through the night yet)
-Loves light switches and does a cheesy grin when you let him play with them
-Running everywhere! (Besides the left leg problem)
-No real words yet
-Takes one nap a day, usually - sometimes two
-Just had his second haircut
-Size 5 diapers and 18 month - 2T clothes
-Goes crazy to be outdoors, doesn't matter what the weather is

It's exhausting to be a growing boy!

Who gets in trouble when he crushes Christmas tree ornaments with his bare hands.

And....Halle slipped going in to school during the last week before Christmas break and was so sad. Dad stayed with her for a while before she was ready to go in...

Ok, we are more than ready for a little Christmas trip! Oncology-approved and everything! Colorado, here we come!
