We definitely over-celebrated Halloween this year - if that's a thing! And we had Grandma Smith AND Aunt Lisa with us to make it even more special.
Sugar cookie baking to start things off!
This year, we based our costumes around Abigail's firefighter outfit from her Fire Chief for a Day in September. She was the firefighter and Cora was the fire. Eve was a robber trying to steal Seth, a bag of money, with Halle as the officer stopping her.
The pediatric oncology office, which throws AWESOME parties, outdid themselves for Halloween.
There were tons of games and prizes, which Eve promptly tried to steal.
The cake walk was a blast and the reward.....?
Actual whole cakes for each winner! The girls each brought home a full cake, pan of cupcakes, etc. They couldn't believe their luck!
Abigail with one of her oncologist, Dr. Baskaran. We love Drs Baskaran and Kaylani!
Each child also got to decorate their own pumpkin!
All four girls picked the same kit to decorate their pumpkins, so we had four matching :).
Time for some food! Lots of yummy snacks to offset all the sugar.
Eve repented of her wicked ways and shared some food with Seth.
Abigail with Lorenzo, the nurse who would take her vitals and check her in every week. We didn't know, but this was the last time we'd see him! He started a new job the next week. :( We miss Lorenzo!
And we LOVE Brenda, the oncology nurse who accesses Abigail's port each week for chemo. She is absolutely the best!! (And the one who does most of the work for these parties.)
Brooke is one of the nurses at the hospital and another of our favorites! She's the one who picked Abigail for Fire Chief for a Day!
Going out in style at the end of a great party! Thank you to Texas Tech Pediatric Oncology!
They also each brought home a mini pumpkin and Seth was a big fan!
That party was on Saturday, October 19th. The following Saturday, the 26th, was our ward Truck or Treat so we got dressed up again! Grandma Smith was with us for both parties which was a huge help! So many little people to keep track of!
We enjoyed a yummy chili dinner then went outside for the real fun!
Grandma and Seth helped pass out candy :).
Halloween was on a Thursday this year and when the girls got home from school, we had a spooky snack waiting!
Witch warts (chocolate chips), pumpkin teeth (candy corn), spider eyes (red m&m's), monster scabs (cinnamon toast crunch), frog teeth (green m&m's), and ghost poop (mini marshmallows).
Skepticism was soon replaced with approval!
And finally, time for actual trick or treating! Grandma stayed home to pass out candy and Aunt Lisa joined Andrew and I in taking the kids around.
Eve reverted back to her bad habits and tried to make off with Seth.
From what I remember, it was coooold! Aunt Lisa soon turned back with Seth followed by Andrew and the younger girls.
Not many houses pass out candy anymore, so it was a lot of walking with not very many stops, even just going up and down our street. But the girls came away with tons of loot because our neighbors across the street (Riley's grandparents) and our next door neighbors (Larry and Amy) gave them each a few huge handfuls. I guess not many kids go out these days too? Anyway, we all had a great time!
