Moving to Michigan: Part 1

Ok, I'm finally going to finish updating the blog! And what better place to start then with our move from Richardson, TX to Clawson, MI. Lucky, lucky, LUCKY for us, since AT&T was relocating us, they paid for the move! And movers! Yay! There are going to be a ton of pictures covering our move (and multiple posts, as you can tell from the title), but don't be alarmed - my narration will be brief.

Packing day (and losing all our stuff day) was 6 days before our actual move. So things were a bit spread out. Just to vent for a bit: the movers packed and took our stuff on Friday, May 20th. By taking it on that day, they could guarantee delivery in Michigan sometime between May 27th and June 3rd. Seriously?!?!?!?! A week without our stuff and then a week delivery spread? We're moving to Michigan, not China! But hey, at least we weren't boxing and loading it all, right?

After all our stuff was gone, Eve got to sleep on a blanket on the floor in her walk-in closet. We kept a couple of camp chairs, an air matress, and some paper goods (and lots of milk for Eve!), but no bed for the baby. She's tough. She can handle sleeping on the floor for a week. Hey, our Michigan condo is all hardwood floord (and by all, I mean ALL), so she got to enjoy a little closeness with carpet for the last time. I think it was the second day of sleeping on the floor that we found her like this in the morning:

Here's our church building in Richardson. We were so sad to leave that ward! We LOVED our year there and wish it could have been longer.

The afternoon of our last Sunday in Texas (May 22nd) we got to visit my Grandma one last time.

It's been so fun being close to family! Three generations:

It was sad, but that whole week was the week of goodbyes. On Monday night, we went to dinner at a friend of Andrew's family. And....we let Eve have her first taste of ice cream. Chocolate. She enjoyed it. But then, as our child, she didn't really have a choice.

If we got talking and didn't feed it to her fast enough, she'd let us know about it! Yum! I even let her have a taste of my mint ice cream and she liked that too.

It was so good to see April and enjoy her delicious cooking again! That's one thing we'll definitely miss in Michigan - knowing people! We had tons of friends and family in the Dallas area that made this past year extra special. Who wants to move to Michigan to keep us company? Bring warm clothes!
