Eve's New Room

About a month ago, we moved Eve from this:

To this:

She is such a big girl!  She sleeps like a champ in her new, big bed and has only fallen out two or three times :)

She likes playing with all her toys in her room and wakes up in a good mood (usually) and we hear her upstairs just playing.  As opposed to crib wake ups which were almost always crying.  It's no fun being restrained!

Mommy Turns 30!

I am officially in my 30's!  Despite me having to work late, we partied in style!  I came home to dinner all ready to eat - homemade lasagna with french bread and green beans!  My mouth is watering just writing about it....good thing we have leftovers!

Andrew and Eve surprised me with beautiful flowers, there was a cookie basket from my friend Candace, a box from my parents, and a stack of cards!  Wow!

After dinner, we set right to work opening everything up....Eve helped.

In addition to Scrabble, my parents sent a book and alligator ring toss game.  They probably meant them for Eve, but we've all be enjoying them!

Eve wasted no time playing with this toy - and now it lives in her room because she can't stand to be too far from it.  Andrew and I are practicing our ring-toss skills, but so far, at least for me, without much luck.  Andrew landed one of his first tosses - from across the room!

Eve hasn't tried tossing yet - she prefers setting the rings on very neatly.

But she's very good at calling out "miss!" when we fail in our attempts to land the rings.

Such a fun birthday!

For dessert we had homemade cheesecake and ice cream.  That's right - both!

Then Andrew and I watched some episodes of Sherlock Holmes on hulu after putting Eve to bed - a great end to a great day!

This was so cute, I had to get one more good shot of it - thanks Candace!

And, of course, my beautiful flowers!  Andrew said Eve was so excited when they picked them out that she insisted on carrying them to the checkout and out to the car.  Everyone was commenting on how cute she was.  That girl loves flowers!

A big thanks to everyone who made it such a special birthday!

Pudding

When you give an Eve a pudding....

The results are sure to be messy!

Eve recently learned the alphabet song and goes around singing all the time now.  Andrew caught some of it on video - not her best rendition, but still pretty cute!

Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Days

And by days, I mean days!

Like many of you, we decided on August 1st to support Chick-Fil-A by participating in their day of appreciation.  It really bothered me that when the president of the company said he supported the biblical definition of marriage, it seems like the whole country erupted in outrage.  I heard him called "narrowminded", "backwards", "biased", and much worse.  And when mayors started saying that the restaurant was not welcome in their cities, well, that was the end for me.

It's too bad that we live in a country and world that truly does call evil good and good evil.  So we decided that we'd start eating at Chick-Fil-A more.  And by more, I mean at all.  Neither of us have ever really been there before....but we mean to go more often now!

So, with that said, after I got home from work on the 1st, we drove over to the restaurant only to find out that they were sold out of food!  We weren't even disappointed - how cool is that?!

So here's the picture proving we did indeed show up on the official Appreciation Day (that's the restaurant in the back):

We decided to try again on Friday night - and not just because it was dubbed the official day for protesters to hold "kiss-ins" at the stores....

But I did get to kiss a chick!  And a super cute one!  And there were no protesters, so we just played for a bit, got our food, and headed home!

"Just let me down so I can play, Dad!"

Waiting for our food.....

Eve got her very own chicken nugget meal with fries and a book!

We're always happy to support a good cause - especially when our support means a yummy dinner!  :)
