SMU Graduation!

On May 16th and 17th, Andrew graduated from SMU (Southern Methodist University) with his masters degree in higher education!  We're so proud of his accomplishment!  He's been working on this degree for two years and we're glad to be done :)

Grandpa and Grandma Smith drove out from Provo for the occasion, which made it all the more special.  They arrived Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon was the convocation.  We all attended, which may or may not have been a mistake. 

The girls had fun walking across campus from our parking spot to the building where the ceremony was held. Thank goodness Grandpa and Grandma were there to help out!  9 months pregnant me would not have made it alone with the girls.....

Once inside and seated, we had about a 30 min wait.  So I let the grandparents do all the work :) 

We chose our seats right!  Andrew walked right past us in the processional!

Don't mind me hugely pregnant or Halle throwing a fit....she was so bad during the ceremony that Grandpa took her out in the hall and missed the whole thing!  I missed the first part due to a diaper change/bathroom run for Eve and Halle, but made it back for the good stuff.  Grandpa was too nice to keep Halle quiet in the hall so the rest of us could see Dad get his diploma!

After pictures, we headed back across campus for a reception in the education building.  But we took time on our way to smell the....flowers....

The reception was fun, but hectic, and apparently I didn't take a single picture.  Andrew got some time to visit with the professors and his peers from the program while Grandpa and Grandma helped me corral two very tired and sugar high children.  Eve was very outspoken and made lots of instant friends among the adults there.  Unfortunately, she chose to tell them all about how many desserts Grandma and I had eaten....hey, it was chocolate!  (And for the record, Grandma only had one....me....a couple more than that.....)

On Saturday, we dropped the girls off first thing in the morning with a babysitter and headed to commencement.

It's hard to see, but Andrew's the first one behind the sea of red undergrads. 

The SMU president and the mayor of Dallas spoke and it was nice to enjoy the ceremony without the girls - they never would have made it through the whole thing!  It was over 2 hours long....

We're so proud of our mustang!  Haha, actually, I didn't learn that was their mascot until the graduation.  We haven't been actively involved in SMU pride....

After commencement, it was back to the education building for one more reception!

I can't put into words how proud we are of Andrew's accomplishment!  We sure love him!
