Thanksgiving

Our Thanksgiving this year was definitely non-traditional!  I spent the night at the hospital with Abigail for the first time, then she and I spent the day together.

Thursday morning was much like Wednesday had been.  Abigail got another sponge bath, we went on a few long walks, and she was still throwing everything up.

Snuggles with Mommy!

Nice weather again so more outside time!  And I didn't know because she was still acting so unresponsive, but Abigail was taking in everything she saw - and remembering it!

A therapy dog stopped by for a visit!  Abigail was very overwhelmed by its size at first, but really enjoyed the visit once she warmed up to it.

She also got a "princess" chocolate bar from the nurses - the closest thing to a smile we'd seen a quite a few days!

All worn out from a morning of excitement.

Abigail woke up from that nap a completely different person!  All of a sudden, she was talkative, energetic (comparatively), and happy!  She immediately said she was hungry (a first!) and the nurse brought her a strawberry milkshake.  She chugged a goodly amount, threw it all up, then asked for more food!  She also wouldn't stop talking - in a 5 minute period, she said more than she'd said in the last 5 days!

Abigail said she wanted to go to the "store" she'd seen on our walk to get some Cheetos.  She was very insistent and I finally figured out that she was talking about the vending machines we passed on our walks.

So off we went for another walk!  A successful one!

She ate her Cheetos and from that point on, she kept eating!  Still kept throwing it up, but at least she was eating!!

That evening, everyone came for another visit - and loved the wagon as much as Abigail did!

Kisses from Cora!

Not the Thanksgiving we'd been planning, but it turned out pretty great!

We were so grateful to have Grandma with us helping so much!!

The girls had a blast with all of Abigail's new toys.

After a nice visit, Andrew stayed with Abigail to spend the night and the rest of us went home.  A very kind young woman in our ward (from my Sunday School class) brought us an apple pie for Thanksgiving so we served that up!

Andrew and Grandma Larsen had surprised me by preparing a Thanksgiving dinner - turkey, rolls, and mashed potatoes!  It was a yummy surprise to come home to!

Not a normal Thanksgiving, but so much to be thankful for this year.
