Since we moved in a year ago, we've been meaning to refinish the garage floor...and we just now got around to it. St Patrick's Day weekend we bit the bullet and got to work!
It first required that we (Andrew) empty, sweep, then degrease the floor. That took a long time. Mostly the degreasing. Andrew had to go over the whole floor on hands and knees, several times. Yikes! But that floor was very clean by the time he was done.
Then he had to hose the floor and squeegee it a couple of times.
Then came the etching. The whole floor had to be covered in this water mixed with etching stuff and scrub brushed. Then one more round of rinsing and squeegee-ing and the prep was done!
Then we waited overnight while everything dried out.
The next day (Saturday) was the painting day! Andrew cut the edges, then used a roller to get the rest of the floor.
He did it in sections and I followed behind sprinkling the decorative chips - yes, that was basically the extent of my help.
It took a couple hours to paint and chip, but at long last the work was over!
We let the floor dry for three or four days and.....drum roll....we finally had a finished product!

All in all, it was a ton of work, but we really like how the new floor looks. And we can spill anything we want on it now! And we plan to!
