Christmas was a little different this year. Not just because we'd barely moved, but we also stayed home this year - a first since the Christmas right after Eve was born. Turns out, we survived and even managed to enjoy ourselves!
First order of business on Monday the 24th was to find a tree! Good thing Home Depot still had lots left! I made Andrew promise me that if we didn't travel for Christmas, we could have a real tree. We picked a great one (although they were all a little dry this late in the game)!
That evening we started a new family tradition - Chinese food and milkshakes for Christmas Eve. We picked Chinese because 1) I wasn't going to cook and 2) all the girls love orange chicken! Most of us also picked peppermint chocolate chip milkshakes :)
Then we decorated the tree between sips of our milkshakes. Look how many boxes we got out of the living room in just 1 1/2 days! :)
We had more than one child (I won't mention names) in meltdown by this point, so stockings were hung quickly and rather unceremoniously.
Christmas Eve!
Some time during the night, something magical happened and when we woke up we found:
Not surprisingly, Eve and Halle were the first ones up.
Abigail and Cora quickly joined the fun!
So many fun stocking surprises!
Cora carefully took out each thing (including individual pieces of candy) one at a time.
Finally time to open some presents!
Meanwhile, in the kitchen.....we did at least manage the traditional cinnamon rolls and scrambled eggs.
Seth wasn't sure what to think of all the action. He wasn't too impressed at first.
"Wait, this is all for me?!"
"I can't believe it!"
"Best holiday ever!"
Also, exhausting.
Cora just sat quietly playing with her Moana figures.
Eve and Halle rushed to the bathroom to wash and reveal Halle's scruff-a-luv toy.
We had a fun and quiet day at home, enjoying each other's company and celebrating the birth of our Savior!
Seth re-opened his bouncer present, and wasn't thrilled.
"Oh, wait. This is actually kind of fun!"
The morning of the 26th, this is how I found the nativity. Apparently someone thought the wise men's gifts were insufficient?
And merry late Christmas! It took us a few days, but we finally got the wifi setup on the TV and the girls celebrated with an episode of My Little Pony.
Not really a white Christmas, but we did get hail on the 26th.
It's hard work keeping Mommy up all night!
Abigail kept rearranging the ornaments and I'd find them all hanging on the bottom on the tree. Good thing Seth's not mobile yet!
Later that week, we got some snow.
Staying in the warm house - a girl after my own heart!

Also, look at Andrew's nice paint job in the hallway. He managed to get quite a bit done during the evenings of the two weeks between when we closed and when we moved in. He was plenty happy to check out of the hotel and stay at the house on an air mattress during those weeks.
Snuggly, post-Christmas baby. Seth got a crib for Christmas! Before this, he'd been in either the pack n play or his bouncy seat. Finally a real bed! Now the good sleeping can start? Unfortunately not, but at least he looks cute!
