Abigail gets to do Make a Wish and the child life specialist, Becky, from the hospital (we love Becky!) is one of her wish granters. So Becky and her helper Whitney came over in March to fill out paperwork and interview Abigail to pick her brain for ideas. In an effort to let this be natural, we did not pre-coach her at all. In retrospect, we probably should have. Whitney came out of the interview with these gems.
My favorites:
-Wants to have stairs in our house with a play place outside that looks like a giant unicorn
-Go to Aunt Kelly's house
-"A party"
-Meet more grown-up doctors (I guess in response to questions about if she could meet anyone....she doesn't really know any famous people)
-She wanted a watch like the one Whitney was wearing "to help me tell time"
-A dog - specifically a female dalmatian (quickly vetoed by Mom and Dad)
Yeah, not much to go on there - good luck wish granters! They came back with some ideas about a play room makeover, a princess party with her friends, a shopping spree (no!), or a trip to visit Utah. But by this time Abigail had learned about Disney World (admittedly, she saw me looking at pictures from our trip to Disneyland a few years ago). She decided she really wanted to fly on a plane and go to Disney! So after letting it marinate for a few weeks to make sure she wasn't going to vacillate, that's the wish she locked in for!
Then COVID hit, travel wishes ground to a halt, and a backlog built up. So it may be a while before she gets her wish, but at least for now, she's not changing her mind.
