March: Pre-Shutdown

Here's a sampling of our other activities in March before the world ground to a halt. 

Freezing out with ice cream! And look how long her hair was! It's the vincristine chemo she gets that makes her hair fall out and she's three weeks on, three weeks off with it so between cycles her hair will start to grow, then get all thin and stringy again and need to be cut. 

Waiting to see the orthopedic specialist about Eve's legs after the February x-rays. The verdict was that he doesn't want to do a surgery at this point to stretch her tendons because most kids have a growth spurt around 11 or 12 that could just negate the effect of the surgery. So we'll check back next year and see where we go from there. 

More waiting....

PJ day at school! 

Who knew that in just a couple of weeks, every day would be pajama day at (home) school? 

Practicing bike riding skills! 

One night we had pizza night where each girl got to make her own little pizza! 

The alfredo sauce was a bit hit :) 

Now to enjoy the fruits of our labors! 

Lots of cooking practice during March, it seems. 

We went to our friends from the ward, the Holloways, one evening to celebrate their mom's birthday and our kids were totally nuts for their two dogs! 

The week before spring break, we went to lunch with each of the girls. It's like I knew, somehow. 

Abigail on the 11th! 

Halle on the 12th!

And Eve on the 13th! Friday the 13th - the last day in school for the year. 

Celebrating the start of spring break with blizzards! 

Making a lemon meringue pie on the 13th for Pi Night on the 14th - Abigail helped me squeeze the lemons! 

Trying to cheer a grumpy Seth up later than night. 

But on the 14th before going for pie, Halle got her hair cut and then Eve wanted one too - not enough off to donate, but probably 4 inches or so!

That afternoon, we had some fun playing around with her hair. 

It holds a curl so well! Jealous! 

Speaking of hair! Thinning again and about ready for another shave! 

 

Pi Night was the evening of the 14th at the Johnston's house and boy was it yummy!

Seth kept trying to get out the front door, so Andrew bolted it shut. A little while later, a guy there we didn't know (from another ward) says, "Um, someone's kid is in the front yard, heading for the street." Sure enough, it was Seth. He had found a bedroom with an open window and CLIMBED OUT. Andrew booked it out and grabbed him just in time. We didn't stay much longer after that. 

Now, goodbye normal life. It's been fun. Sorry we took you for granted.
