Back to Church - Kind Of

Our ward's first Sunday back at Sacrament Meeting was on July 5th, but since we were in New Mexico, our first week was July 12th. We couldn't take Abigail, obviously, so Andrew stayed with her, Cora, and Seth. I was 35 weeks pregnant and we had to wear masks the whole time, but it was still nice!

I had plenty of reservations about starting up again, if nothing else because I've loved doing our own little thing at home. But it actually felt really good to be back in our building again, worshiping together, even if it was just a few of us.

We're limited to 50 people (which isn't a problem for our small ward), we sit far apart, and we don't even sing (just listen to the music). Everything has to be sanitized before and after we meet - at 9am. It's only a 45 minute meeting. Very different from how church meetings were before March. But the Spirit is still there and the one or two talks have been amazing the 4 times we've gone now. Cora's even come once and kept her mask on.

I've got to play the piano a couple of times when the organist wasn't there. Our attendance has varied between 35-45ish, depending on the week. Andrew has still been doing the sacrament at home with the kids who don't come. The kids look forward to the day when they can go back to primary! Who knows how long that will be? But for now, this is good.
