Besides chemo, Grandma, birthdays, and broken thumbs, here's an assortment of what else happened in June.
Uncle Dennis (Andrew's uncle) had sent the kids a big box with, among other things, shoes for everyone! Cowboy boots!
Seth thinks his are pretty cool.
And Abigail and Cora got other shoes - watermelon shoes for Abigail and what Cora calls "reindeer" shoes for her. They even light up! Not sure why reindeer, though?
Halle continued with her creativity and art projects!
Seth continued "helping" in the kitchen.
"Just a little more water I think, Mommy."
We tried to see if Halle's hair was long enough yet to put some braids in. Not really. And yes, she's worn this shirt basically non-stop since March.
Our next door neighbors, Amy and Larry Lee, gave us this ride on Paw Patrol toy! Their grandson doesn't like it (had a crash) so they passed it to us. We couldn't believe it! The kids love it!
Both Abigail and Cora got a color with gem kit for their birthdays - everyone enjoyed making some stickers and window clings with them!
Cleaning out the new guest room, Seth found a hiding place under the desk!
A family in our ward owns a shaved ice stand and texted Andrew one day to say someone had anonymously purchased snow cones for our entire family! So one afternoon we went to enjoy those! They were yummy and HUGE! People are so nice.
So many different flavors to try!
Seth's hair was long enough (and sweaty enough) for a bit of a mow-hawk!
The girls play hide and seek a lot. There are a few pretty good places to hide and Eve certainly found one in my closet. I get claustrophobic just looking at this picture.
Abigail started reading her first chapter books and is doing great! She likes Magic Treehouse and Rescue Princesses. I think she's read 6 of these chapter books in the past month or two. We're so proud of her!
For Eve's follow-up appointment to have her thumb removed, Grandma Larsen had already left and Andrew had to be in the office that day. I had no one to watch the kids so tried to call the office to reschedule, but they were very understanding (and didn't want to reschedule) so said I could bring everyone. Apparently the doctor has six kids and gets it. So we all went. Cora and Seth were in the double stroller. They put us first thing in the morning and took us right back to a room and all the kids did very well.
Look at that pin. He just sprayed something cold on it and pulled it right out with a pair of pliers. And let Eve keep it. She did great!
Then we saw the physical therapist who showed Eve a series of stretches to do 2-3 times a day and made her a little brace to wear on her thumb for the next three weeks. The other kids stayed in the waiting room for this part, watching a show on the tablet, under the watchful eye of one of the ladies at check-in. The staff was so nice to accommodate us.
Eve thought her new brace was pretty cool!
And she liked that she could take it off and move her thumb every day.
And, Cora is adorable. She loves asking me to take pictures of her.
Going with me to her well-check and she had to wear a mask. She didn't want to, but she did it! And it turned out when we got there, they had just moved offices (same building) and the a/c was shut off so we had to reschedule. We'll try again in July!
