Sunday night, July 5th, was definitely a hot one. We got home a few hours before the Brunsons arrived, so set to work turning on fans and opening windows when it was cool enough outside. Thank goodness for the sun room a/c unit!
Someone came to take a look at the a/c first thing Monday morning and luckily it was a quick and not too expensive repair.
Once we got that straightened out, we all went for a drive out to Palo Duro - into the actual park this time! It was super hot so we didn't last long.
A friend from church had told me about this out of the way place that's one of their favorites to explore, so we tried to find it. That was a mistake. We ended up just wandering around for 30 mins to an hour in the heat. At least the kids had fun exploring a bit!
Some had more fun than others. Seth did not like the heat and managed to get himself very dirty wiping sweat from his face.
Taking a break with Blade.
The older kids were quite the explorers!
Seth kept checking on Dixie.
Me with my buddy, Blade! He and Seth were ready to leave!
Abigail was so excited about a rock she found!
Then heartbroken when we wouldn't let her bring a piece of broken glass home.
I found a sparkly rock to bring instead and that cheered her up!
We of course stopped for ice cream cones on the way home after all that heat! And then had lots to time to play with Dixie!
10 kids is a lot of mouths to feed!
That was all Monday, July 6th.
On Tuesday, we mostly hung around the house because Abigail was at chemo. Apparently I took no pictures that day?
On Wednesday, Kelly and I took the kids up to the church to play in the gym! Yes, we sanitized before we left.
It was chaotic and there was quite a bit of whining, at least from my kids.
And lots of competition for this car! The battery is totally shot (probably from pulling those scooters around that we've done in the gym before) so it only lasts for 15 mins or so before needing to be recharged.
Watching a movie in the playroom that afternoon so the adults could turn on Heartland in the living room :). I was trying to get Kelly and Lance hooked on it in the couple days they were here and think I succeeded!
Sprinklers in the front yard before dinner!
And Reagan made more cotton candy for everyone!
That night, we let Eve and Reagan stay up late and watch Sgt Bilko with the adults.
And just like that, our visit was over. They left Thursday morning to head home, via Broomfield. We were so glad they came to visit! I don't think their whole family has ever come to one of our houses before!
